The best version of this song that I’ve heard. Just magical. We shouldn’t forget that Angelina participated in many events in support of charitable organizations. This was an event held in support of "Plan International", a humanitarian and development organization with the goal of advancing children's rights and equality for girls around the world. "Foster Parents" sponsor needy children around the world with monetary pledges that go directly to helping the specific children whom they sponsored and are able to communicate with them via Plan International. The event was held on December 30, 2016 at Chateau Neuf Center in Oslo and broadcast on TV2. Angelina was one of several performers and delivered a stunning performance. Most of Angelina's performances after winning Norway Got Talent at age 8 were for children charitable organizations. This Amazing young lady with the big voice and bigger heart is 18 years old today and still performs barefoot to remember the shoeless girl that she met when she was 6 years old and to remind us all of the many needy children around the world. Thank you for this enjoyable reaction video.

Yes, Angelina does her own vocal arrangements. Angelina is always respectful to any song she covers. She only adds what she knows will add to the song with her jazzy background. She will never just throw something in a song to show off her vocal prowess, that is one reason she is one of the most respected vocal artist even as a very young child. With due respect, It was little to late in her first one you heard to judge whether you could guess her age, or tell that she was a kid or not , as you went into already knowing her age, and that would the effect of one listening for something to tell that she was only 9 years old. great reaction Cheers!!

What is amazing with her is not that she sounds mature. Clearly you can hear that she is young in certain parts. But the choices she makes to bring out the emotion and meaning of a song is not only mature but almost ancient. She knows how to communicate feelings to another human by using a common, simple language that is inherent in us. It comes from the heart, and you believe her.

always like when her eyes go skyward when she really drops in to the pocket, it’s like this extra place she goes, and when she flips that hair off her shoulder in any song, look out, she takes these two steps to settle herself after the second “you know how I feel”, it’s not even nerves it’s like a statement and you can just tell she is ready to roll, she is just cool in a way you can’t teach, thanks!

Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction. There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. (1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice. (2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move. (3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus. (4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance. (5) That wonderful crescendo at the end. (6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance (7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand. (8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 9.07 in your reaction video. (9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!" (10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause. Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

AJ is really two people at once -- a brilliant vocalist who is fully aware of her audience and in full control of her voice, and an emotional artist with the ability to transfer her feeling to others. The combination is just deadly -- essentially that's the definition of musical genius. Her pitch, her range, her musical intuition, her tone, her runs and rifts, her vocal fry -- all are at the highest level. When she ascends up the scale in the coda, she's actually clueing in the band with her left hand, so that the musicians understand her ad lib tempo exactly, and can anticipate her as she moves up the scale. All this in a live, broadcast performance. I just can't articulate how unreal that is for a 10-year-old. AJ's situational awareness is beyond comprehension.

At some point, you will have to react to some of her interviews. An especially "telling" one is an interview she did at age 9 (almost 10 - so, basically midway between the two videos you've seen so far) on a TV show called _Lindmo_ (named after the host, Anne Lindmo) , right after singing "Unchained Melody" (which is also worth a reaction). Angelina was there to promote her book about why she sings barefoot, which was being published that week. (Its title in English is _Between Two Hearts_ and in Norwegian _Mellom to hjerter_ . It may or may not be available at the moment.) The interview ends with Angelina reading a passage from her "diary" that appears verbatim in the book itself. By all accounts, she wrote it when she was 6 (although the actual handwritten copy she was reading from was likely produced when she was 8, after she had rediscovered the original story in her diary and decided to turn it into a book). To say that it blew my mind is kind of an understatement. That was around the time I started to tell myself, "I am _not_ going to fall in love with this girl." (Turns out, I was wrong.) The performance of "Unchained Melody" can be found under the title "Angelina Jordan synger hos Lindmo" (posted by the original broadcaster, NRK) or “ AMAZING Angelina Jordan sings "Unchained Melody" ” (posted by MovieClips), the interview with English subtitles can be found under “ Angelina Jordan interviewed by Anne Lindmo, NRK TV "Lindmo" 14/11/2015 (eng & esp sub) ” (posted by Yozhik v Tumane).

Thank you for this beautiful reaction to this amazing performance by Angelina. Her very own reading of this classic, which she has developed on her own, is sensational not only for a 10-year-old girl, but for an adult as well, there is not only her understanding of the musical texture of the song, but also the ability to change it in a very unique way. I'm adding a link to a video of her taken by her grandmother while she was arranging alone on the piano, this her version in a backstage, for this song already 2 years before this show (at just 8 years old). She's not a belter or a vocal gymnast, and I like that. But there are others who miss it. I've seen reactors (mostly younger guys) waiting the entire song for her to break out and be disappointed because it was clear she wasn't showing off. As she has often explained, she is not in the same world we are in when she sings, she is mentally somewhere else and returns from there when the applause starts. And she may be a bit shy, but she also seems to be an introvert, plus the Norwegian/Scandinavian trait of not making too much of a fuss about herself might play a role. This is indeed her vocal arrangement (she has used it before during a Christmas concert and the Allsang pa Grensen entertainment show in the summer), but everyone else involved also contributed their part - everything about it is perfect: not only did the band do a great job, they synchronized seamlessly with Angelina's beautiful vocals, the lighting is top notch (remember that pulsating aura at the beginning), as is the camera work (remember the 360 degree tracking shot around her, along with the "hey" she said to us with her eyes). I just wish we could have seen more of the audience - that's the benefit of the Allsang pa grensen version she did a few months earlier (and I have to admit I like the finale there a bit better). If you've seen Nina Simone's official music video for this song, remember the occasion Angelina performed here - it's not just a stage performance, it's a charity event benefitting Plan international Norway, a Norwegian Charity supporting children. Your choice of songs is once again very appropriate, just as it was recently at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. What can one recommend next? The famous stuff of course - the Bohemian Rhapsody, Suspicious Minds, It's a man's world, but any performance of their signature song "Fly me to the moon" wouldn't be bad either or my all time favorite from young Angelina "Every time we say goodby" (rooftop performance) which is simply fairy magic kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYO2emt-orl7gKM

A few years ago,someone came up with an explanation about AJ’s approach to a song. It’s been a while, so I thought I’d mention it again. Her goal, her reason for singing is the song…she sees herself as the servant to the song. I think this is why she can take apart a song and put it back together so beautifully. Another aspect of her approach is that she sees herself as just one of the instruments of the band…she never, to my knowledge, tries to rise above the band.

Obviously a lot of people are going to mention that she never gets nervous when performing (nor when preparing to). I'm going to be a little more specific about it: Based on what I've seen, I think it's more than simply being comfortable with the situation. More than having had plenty of experience. And more than being confident in her own abilities. ("I'm not nervous because I believe in myself", she said at 8, when asked whether she was nervous to perform for the first time on a live TV broadcast, in the semifinals of NGT.) Instead, I think it's that she has a completely different perspective on the kinds of things that make "normal people" nervous about performing (even some very well established, very popular entertainers). What would send most people into "crisis mode", she seems to view as a "opportunity" (so to speak). Huge crowd in a huge venue? Great! The more people I can sing for. Small audience in an intimate venue? Great! I can really connect with the people enjoying my music. Performing for world leaders and other kinds of VIPs? Great! It's an honor to be able to sing for them. Live TV or radio broadcast? Great! I can share my love of music with millions of people, all at once. You get the idea… This is just one of many "shifts in perspective" I have had to deal with, as I learned more about her and saw more and more videos of her (both performing and not). So many times, for so many different reasons, I have struggled with the idea of "How is this possible??". Eventually, I come to the realization that whatever it is that's causing me problems, it's only because I'm looking at it from _my_ persepctive. From _her_ perspective, it must be entirely normal. And somehow that starts to make sense. I don't know… It's hard to explain. Just keep watching her videos.

Most consider Nina Simone's rendition to be the 'Gold Standard', over all others who have performed the song. That said, this performance by 10 year old Angelina, surpasses Nina and is in my estimation 'The Platinum Standard', for it has never been equaled by any other artist.

New subscriber here. Great reaction to this song and to "I Put A Spell On You". I appreciate your musical knowledge as a musician, and it looks like you and I are from the same decade. You will thoroughly enjoy your AJ journey, as will I. I might suggest you react to "Suspicious Minds", "The Show Must Go On", ALL of her performances on Norway's Got Talent (think Billie Holiday, Nancy Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald). Her AGT performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" (the band Queen loved it, and gave her rights to her arrangement, and "Yellow Brick Road"), cover of MJ's "Billie Jean", the list goes on and on and on. Also, do NOT miss her originals!!!!!!

For more information on Angelina’s history, see Angelina Jordan’s Wikipedia Page - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelina_Jordan Below is a list of my recommendations for doing reactions to Angelina Jordan. 1. For the initial shock you should start with ‘I Put A Spell On You’ She was 9 years old when she did this. The link for this song is - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU 2. The next song you should react to is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI - this will show you how her voice and presence has developed. 3. To follow her growth react to the following songs in order: At age 6 - ‘I Who Have Nothing’ her first time in a studio - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJu0i354pbuUm9U At age 7 - 8; Norway's Got Talent - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmTKhJulbt6Zbpo At age 8 ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ -kzbin.info/www/bejne/kITJmHZ_fMlqoZY At age 10 ‘Feeling Good’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmnOcn9jqKx9rpo At age 11 ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXjbYZegjbmLh80 She also did this during Norway’s Got Talent, but she did it A Capella. At age 12 There are two songs of note here: ‘Shield’ which is one of her originals - kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLXhpWMgMdjrNU She was invited to perform at Quincy Jones’ 85th birthday in London she sang what is sort of her anthem (she has sung throughout the years many times). This is the rehearsal for the show but it is excellent - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX7OqKKnirOBoac At Age 13 she performed two songs on America’s Got Talent - and one other song of note - ‘I Have Nothing’ is a tribute to Whitney Houston - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XGp6mFa6dmf9E On AGT ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ for which she got the Golden Buzzer - kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eTe4lobduagtk On AGT ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ in the finals - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aomyfqahnLNrrZY - but she didn’t win. A lot of people are upset about that, but I think it’s the best thing that happened to her. At Age 16 she has three new covers. The newest and the best is an Elvis cover ‘Suspicious Minds’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXFfJuhmMqFZpI She has released a new version of I Have Nothing - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4mTmGxvn7NlbLc - which is probably the best song she has done so far. The other is ‘My Funny Valentine - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIjMfYKkfa-Mrsk Angelina dropped her latest song on May 5th 2023 it is the first song off her new album which will be out soon. The name of the song is ‘Love Don’t Let Me Go’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4aZiIyVr52Jq5o - She wrote the song and in an interview said that all of the songs on the new album will be songs she wrote and had a major part in their arrangements. She has done several Adel covers and one other song of note - ‘Million Miles’ - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXzbp6qrj5yie68 - this is an original that she wrote in honor of her grandfather after he passed away. It is also the first song released under her contract with Republic Records. Rusty Shackelford has a KZbin playlist that includes all of her videos, including TikTok and Instagram. I have a playlist of Angelina's videos which has over 200,000 views (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.)

As a guitarist, you'll be interested in the performances where she accompanies herself on guitar. None of them are especially impressive, mind you - she is clearly not a "natural-born instrumentalist" the way she is a natural-born singer. But she does a respectable job in the TikToks and Instagrams she records at home, very likely almost always in a single take, like her vocals-only performances have tended to be. And while the music video where she plays guitar, "Suspcious Minds", doesn't call on her to do anything too difficult (and she could do it in multiple takes, anyway), what she has chosen to do on the instrument is both well planned, let's say, and well executed. And the few times she has played guitar live in concert, she has restricted herself to "rhythm", while another guitarist takes the "lead", so you can't really hear her playing too distinctly, unfortunately. Anyway, the ones I would like to see you react to can be found under the following video titles: * "After hearing Ari Behn RIP Angelina Jordan with trembling hands, she performs this song" (posted by Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz) - a spontaneous acoustic rendition of Shaed's "Trampoline", in tribute to a Norwegian writer and artist who had just died by suicide; Angelina was just shy of 14 at the time * "Angelina Jordan-Killing Me Softly" (look for the "short" posted by PK Swag) - about a year and a half later, and she is clearly much more comfortable with the instrument (now an electric); unfortunately, this was recorded at _way_ too high a level, and it's only 24 seconds long * "Angelina Jordan (NEW COVER) - The Animals - House of The Rising Sun (1964)" (posted by Martin UK) - another 7 months, or so, and she's playing even more effortlessly (if still imperfectly) These are so short (2m32s, 24s, and 1m54s, respectively), you might consider doing all of them in the same reaction. Of course, you should also do "Suspicious Minds" at some point (which was released about 5 months after the last one listed above), but that's easy to find on her official channel, so I didn't include it in the list.
@DadDaughtersandDrinks9 ай бұрын
A) I'm definitely interested in hearing her play guitar. Playing any instrument while singing is always pretty impressive to me, although in some cases I've found that once I can do it, it actually helps me with my singing for whatever reason (and I'm not a good singer, so I'm probably the only one that notices :-) ) B) Thanks for the recs, will put on the list C) I probably will do all short ones at once. I've mentioned at some point probably doing all of the NGT videos at once as well since all 4 are pretty short.
@DonaldLancon9 ай бұрын
@@DadDaughtersandDrinks Just a word of warning: the compilation video(s) out there containing all four of her NGT performances tend to use an edited version of her second-round a cappella performance (omitting a full 50 seconds of it). There is a slightly longer compilation video (14 minutes long) called "Angelina Jordan - sings 7 songs", posted by Song and Heart, that contains her full second-round performance. It also includes the other 3 rounds, of course, along with some additional spontaneous a cappella performances done by request in the middle of interviews, as well as her first performance on a talk show (singing "Fly Me to the Moon" with a guitarist who also worked with her on NGT) - all done during her time in the competition. (It's almost, but not quite, everything she sang on TV during that time. It also happens to be one the first videos - if not _the_ first video I ever saw of Angelina Jordan, lo those many years ago.) The only problem with the "7 songs" video (which presents 9 actual performances of those 7 songs, BTW) is that it doesn't include any pre- or post-song "context" (i.e., little interviews/profiles of her before she sings and judges' comments after) for the songs from NGT. So, if you'd like to see any of that (I _highly_ recommend at least watching the "full" version of her audition, including all that "context"), you should take a look at my playlist called "Angelina Jordan on Norske Talenter (Norway's Got Talent)" on my channel (in the second group of playlists on my "home" tab, or just look through all the playlists in the "playlists" tab). That particular playlist presents the "best versions", IMO, of videos that, collectively, include very nearly everything she did on the show. You definitely need to read the full playlist description to figure out which videos you want to use. Without doing that, it's very confusing. A sort of compromise between the two extremes of "just the songs" vs. "everything" for her NGT stuff (not anything outside of that show) is represented by my playlist called "React to Angelina Jordan on Norway's Got Talent". It has just the four videos I think are the best "middle ground" choices for the four rounds of the competition (more context for the first and last rounds, and none for the two middle ones). So, yeah… good luck figuring out how you want to handle her NGT stuff!

Because I see that you're getting the hater comments about pausing; you do you. This is your channel and you should react to songs in the way that's most comfortable for you, not the way that internet toddlers tell you to. I mean, I get it. We all love watching people be blown away by songs and artists we love, but those of us who can understand that other people don't necessarily listen in the same way that we do can enjoy your channel and the others can leave. lol I'm only commenting because I figured I'd balance out the hate with some love.
@kevingood46449 ай бұрын
“haters” “internet toddlers”..or perhaps viewers giving their feedback on his methodology? For each person commenting, I’m sure their are many more with the same feelings..so perhaps he could take on board the criticism and not lose so many viewers in the future? Self reflection is always always a good idea…I saw none of the “hate” you talk of..
@DadDaughtersandDrinks9 ай бұрын
I've gotten pretty numb to it at this point, so it's not a concern (and I appreciate the attempt at balance!). I don't view them as haters, just people who like a certain reaction style and think that style is therefore the "right" style. If I lose them as subs (or don't gain them in the first place) I don't take it personally, I just figure why would they sub to someone who reacts in a style they don't like. I'm sure there are several hundred reactors watching AJ's videos with little-to-no pausing, so I don't feel the need to confirm to that. It's not why I react.
@DadDaughtersandDrinks9 ай бұрын
I appreciate the comment, and I always try to look at the purpose of the feedback. I can see how phrases like "And the obsessive, most inopportune pausing" could be viewed as more unhelpful than as constructive criticism (and lead to them being termed "haters"), but I know what they're trying to say and it's being received by me in the most positive way. Self-reflection on this kind of thing is something I'm sure every reactor has to go through pretty quickly based on comments one way or the other. I know I've personally unsubbed from many reactors because of a lack of pausing. I'm not really interested in watching facial expressions or vicariously hearing something for the first time; I want to hear what the person is actually thinking. Certainly no animosity on my part, just not what I'm looking for. There are different styles of reacting and different wants from viewers, and eventually we'll all find the right match, one way or the other.
