Thank you for this enjoyable reaction video. I've been a long time fan of Angelina since she was 7 years old. What I find so impressive about this performance is not only her maturity as a singer but also as a person. While the host was using sarcasm with a condescending tone talking to an 8 year old that English is not her mother tongue, Angelina was very well mannered, professional, and composed. When the performance ended and the host returned with the plush toys, Angelina's sight was focused on the host and didn't assume that they were meant for her. When they were presented to her, Angelina's first reaction was to thank the host and embrace her while most children her age would have been focused on the toys and would have wanted to inspect them first. Very well done Angelina and thanks to her family for a well raised child.

Omg it’s so funny you mentioned this!!! I was going to say something in the video but I didn’t want to be a Debbie Downer. Felt like Rosie O’Donnell was sarcastic and it came off as disrespectful imo - like I know they say “til the fat lady sings” but that lady ain’t singing nothing. She is such a pro, too. She was there ALL DAY doing rehearsals and while the studio was doing what they do to get ready to film the Show live. When she did that interview you would never know an eight year older was able to sit ALL DAY until the audience came in and the Show was taped very late in the afternoon. Even the guitar player could not believe what she sounded like while he strummed with a smile on his face.

There are a lot of amazing singers. And people can have their favorites for many different reasons. I’ve been listening to popular music since the 1950’s, and I’ve heard many great singers and groups. There has never been a singer I listened to every day until Angelina. She’s been part of my day for the past four or five years. She can sing any genre, and you know it’s Angelina right from the start. Just a joy.

Angelina was already early 8 wgen she sang I Who Have Nothing in the studio. This can be determined by comparing the state of her permanent upper teeth to dated references, such as her NGT performances. And it's not possible that these were still her baby teeth, because we have earlier sharp footage that shows that the right central incisor was the first of her upper teeth which she lost. But in that video, the adjecent lateral incisor was missing, so it's a later video, and the central one must be the permanent tooth that replaced the one she lost first.

Great reaction as always 🙂 We don't grow up bilingual in Norway, but nowadays we're introduced to English right from the get go in school, which means from age 6. 20 years ago we'd start at age 10-11, so we're getting there. But as her grandmother is Iranian and her grandfather was Japanese, I guess they spoke a lot of English in her home. Even at 10-11, I think it’s really cool. Our kids aren’t forced to do any types of foreign languages really except for 2 years in high school (might be 4 now, but still). Now, I think China is too hardcore about it 😂 but I think grade school age is OK. 👌

You are in for an amazing experience with the Adele stuff--and yes better than Adele. The one she did in Vegas was spectacular. I still can't get over how calm and loose she is. It is almost like she is unaware but she is not.

That moment when she repsonds to Rosie with "The View?" reveals a lot about her, I think. She obviously suspected that she was misunderstanding the question, the way her response was itself delivered as a question. But when people in the audience started laughing, she immediately joined in with them. She didn't seem to be embarrassed by the misunderstanding, and was immediately able to continue the conversation with "no harm done". I think this says a lot about her "character" - in particular, her maturity and "self-assuredness". (I prefer that term - "self-assuredness", or just "assuredness" - since the more common word people use, "confidence", has certain possible connotations that don't really apply to her, IMO. To fully explain what I mean would take several paragraphs, so I'll spare you all that.)

Yes, IMO she sounds better than Adele when covering her. I'd suggest you react to her black and white studio recording of Easy On Me from when she was 15. Accompanied on piano by Rob Christie, the artistic director of her record label Republic Records' LA branch. Do that one and be totally blow away again. Where to go from here? An interesting choice would be another interview + song, from 14 months later, when she was 9-almost-10, on a Norwegian TV talk show. The song was "Unchained Melody". There are some earlier rehearsals she did of the song when she was 8, but this is the first public performance of it that we have video of (AFAIR). There is no single video that contains both the performance and the interview with subtitles/captions, so you'll have to do two separate videos in one reaction: * Angelina Jordan synger hos Lindmo [posted by NRK] * Angelina Jordan interviewed by Anne Lindmo, NRK TV "Lindmo" 14/11/2015 (eng sub) [posted by Yozhik v Tumane] The interview, which was after she sang, is a "must-react". It's a fascinating mixture of childlike behavior (a well-mannered, intelligent child, to be sure… but a child nonetheless) and "wise beyond her years" remarks. (Turn on YT's "CC" captions.) At the end, she reads a passage from the book she wrote about her encounter with the little shoeless girl, which is the reason she sings barefoot. I dare say, you may find that bit of prose as impactful as any vocal performance you have heard from her so far. (BTW, the passage is presented as being from her "diary", written shortly after the encounter, which took place when she was 6. But it's pretty obvious that the actual handwritten text she is reading from was written later on, specifically for publication as a book. I say this because the passage not only appears verbatim in the published book, it appears with exactly the same line breaks, and, AFAICT, the same page breaks. [To explain this more fully: the pages in the book are not numbered, but each 2-page spread contains a bit of text and accompanying art. If you count 2-page spreads up to the point where the passage appears in the book, that number matches a handwritten number in the corner of the "diary" page she is reading from.] Add to that the fact that the story in the book is presented exactly as that: a story in a book, rather than a diary entry [for example, the first words (translated into English) are "I get a bit shy when I'm standing on the scales to get weighed" rather than, say, "Today I met a girl on the streets of [wherever] who was weighing people"], and the conclusion seems unavoidable that the actual text she is reading was not written when she was 6, but later, probably when she was 8. [In an interview about the book, she talked about the story being based on what she originally wrote in her diary, which she "flipped back to" when she was on _Norway's Got Talent_ [possibly before her audition, and possibly after - the exact timing is not clear]. She would have been 7 or 8 at that time. After showing it to her mother and then a friend of the family who is a writer, she decided it should be turned into a book. By the time she wrote it out in the form in which it would be published, she would have been most likely 8. The book itself was published on 2015-11-16, about 8 weeks before she turned 10. Of course, things like that require a lot of lead time, so I doubt she was already 9 when she finalized the story.] Now, all that being said, I wouldn't be too surprised if I were to find out that the passage she read on-camera was more or less identical to what she wrote when she was 6. We just don't have any Actual Evidence that that's the case. However, as I like to say, even if she had written it the day before walking into the TV studio, it would have been an _amazing_ piece of writing for someone so young. [BTW, we have the testimony of Angelina as well as that family friend that Angelina really did write the story herself. She said that the "publishing editor" provided "good adivce" and what I can only assume amounts to basic copyediting - Angelina called it "språkvask", which translates to "language washing".] OK, I'm finished now.😊)

Better than Adele? Depends on our taste. Both are great IMHO. Adele singing “Sky-fall” is in my opinion one of the greatest vocals ever. Unmatched. I’ll give AJ the nod on every other cover of Adele’s music that Angelina does.(close to 9) that I know of.😊
