This is the video that made me realize she is not only a beautiful singer, but she has got some serious acting skills. At least a storytelling gift. Not right away. The song is so absolutely about a love between adult lovers that it's seems impossible for her to be credible in the beginning. A bit exaggerated even. But after a minute or so she climbs in just the right emotions. More sincere than even Barbara Streisand to my ears (who's cover is very close to this one). Apparently she understands the basics of love (and losing it) between two people extremely well, even without the sexual experience! Nice reaction! I prefer her stripped down performances too!

As usual I'm sobbing all over the place. I know, words are hard to come by. Your heart has taken over your body and your head had to take a back seat. It has no clue what is going on. Angelina has this way of bringing life to the story within the lyrics. From the deepest melancholy to the uplifting feeling of hope. Her voice, with support from her facial expression and hand movements, draws us in, inviting us to share the emotions that she expresses so deeply. There is no doubt, in my mind, that this is what she was born to do, it's in her destiny...

This is a Rod McKuen song. My wife, as a teen, was a big fan, so I'm familiar with his music. Rod was not a singer, he was a poet/songwriter. His "singing" was more a lyrical reading than anything else. With his deep, naturally gravelly voice, he emoted as if he were struggling to express himself through his emotions. What's so impressive about this is how Angelina captured the essence of Rod's delivery, sacrificing her power, clarity and musicality.

That was 11 yo Angelina pleading with her "lover" not to leave her. It shows that she can not only express emotions of adult themes with her singing, but she can act, as well. I predict she will star in a mainstream movie, involving singing, before she's 25.
