Not bad to be invited to sing on this album when she was 11yo to celebrate the bands 200 years aniversery. This was the release consert and Angelina had turned 12yo. Even the conductor was taken by surprise when she took it up a notch or ten outside. The album version is softer. There is an other jazzy version from Kongsberg jazzfestival the same year. Mindblowing performance anyway.. 🤯🤗

I'd like to believe the sax alto getting louder than the other instruments was intentional. I'm sure during rehearsal Angelina notated it in the arrangement and if you wonder why, it was a way to bring attention to the High E5 NOTE, which by the end, ANGELINA hit the note full chest, prompting the Conductor to look at AJ, shake his head and smile. That's her way of being creative as well as being extra, extra special. Great reaction, as always.

Thanks for this fantastic reaction with Angelina. In this performance (the presentation at 12 years old in 2018, with the Norwegian Armed Forces orchestra, of her wonderful CD "It's Magic" where the recordings are perfect, you can also find it on Spotify) you see the the ability with which Angelina rereads these old songs and always extrapolates alternative versions of an incredible beauty and sings masterfully, she is simply unreal and her jazz inflection is absolutely unique, she really manages to make you discover unthinkable musical landscapes, which only she glimpses and creates 💛 🧡 ❤️

If I remember correctly - this video is filmed by AJ's grandmother on a cellphone - and I am yet to see a cellphone handle the mix coming out of a P.A. system with any resemblance to how it sounds "live" to our ears. I kid you not - watch any fan cellphone holder post even a modern TOOL concert (with impeccable live sound out since forever) - a cellphone mic will make it sound shit even now in 2021 - I do not know why this is so hard - but hard it is. It does document a 11 year old girl casually singing out in front of the 200 year old "Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces" - one of the better brassbands on this planet, demonstrating a certain amount of talent though.

You should watch the last few seconds for the zoom out. There is a another version from a jazz festival, however the video is really just audio with pictures.

Yea im pretty sure the sound is like it is cause its being recorded on a phone. This is the Norwegian armed forces staff music corps so they know what they doing.. She actually have more covers and concerts with them..
