The lyrics again are somewhat autobiographical. It says.. she was born in April and it was snowing, she was given a grandma's name (old fahioned?) And talks about her life not being easy, but in the end her mind is strong as an ant "forte come una formica".

Yes you said it right, not like the plastic. It means ant. They have the word formica for the countertop as well pronounced the way we do in English.
