The fish tank scene was Tom Hardy's idea. Originally it was just there to establish that it was a fancy restaurant, but Tom took one look at it and said, "Yeah, so I'm gonna go in." They rigged the entire tank so he could do it safely, even going as far as to put in fake lobsters with marshmallow filling and chocolate sauce.

I really appreciate how the movie handles Eddie and Ann's breakup. So many movies that start with a breakup usually get the two back together. It would have been so easy to make Dan a asshole and have Eddie "win" back Ann's approval but the movie took a more realistic route then most action movies with a romantic sub-plot.

I really enjoyed this film, even though it definitely changes a lot about Venom and Eddie Brock compared to the comics and other versions. The biggest difference, of course, is Spider-Man being left out of the story. Normally, Spider-Man is a huge part of both Eddie and Venom’s origin. In the comics, Peter Parker was the first host of the Symbiote, which he picks up during Secret Wars #8 (1984), with The Amazing Spider-Man #252 marking the suit’s first appearance in Spider-Man’s comics whenever all the heroes returned to Earth. Peter wore the black suit until Web of Spider-Man #1 (1985), when he managed to remove it using a church bell. At the time, Eddie Brock, who blames Spider-Man for ruining his journalism career after exposing the Sin-Eater, was in the same church. The Symbiote then bonds with Eddie, creating Venom, who makes his first full appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (1988). Fun side note: Black Cat made Peter a fabric version of the black suit because she thought it was “sexy,” so in his first showdown with Venom, both of them are in black-and-white. A contrast to more recent renditions which feature Peter in his classic Red and Blue suit. I’m not entirely sure why, but Sony’s been doing this thing where they make movies about Spider-Man characters without actually including or even referencing Spider-Man. Because of that, Eddie's whole origin story with Venom is totally differant, something Spider-Man fans were pretty mix on whenever the film released, though I personally still enjoy this film. The film’s intro actually pulls a bit from the ’90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series. In the show, they adapted Venom’s origin but skipped the Secret Wars storyline. Instead, the Symbiote came to Earth on a space shuttle that crash-landed in New York after the Symbiote broke free and took over the pilot. Spider-Man rescues the shuttle, and the Symbiote sneaks onto him, giving us the black suit. They also include J. Jonah Jameson’s son as one of the astronauts, which the film gives a nod to as well thanks to one of the survivors being J. Jonah Jameson’s son. Another big change is the setting. In the comics, Eddie and Spider-Man are both based in New York, but in the movie, Eddie’s living in San Francisco after leaving New York. This new location actually nods to the ’90s Lethal Protector storyline, where Eddie and Venom leave New York and head to San Francisco. There, Venom becomes more of a “lethal protector”, still taking down bad guys but also protecting people who need help. So it's like a wild mix between an origin story and the lethal protector story arc.

Oh, and like others have pointed out, the film brings out Venom's more humorous side, but in the comics, this lighter side usually comes after his initial villain phase. When Venom first appeared, he was all about taking down Spider-Man, but it wasn’t until the Lethal Protector story line in the ’90s that we saw this more anti-hero, occasionally funny side of him, kind of like what we get in the movie. The ’90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series did a great job balancing both sides of Venom’s character. I’ll never forget that scene of Venom chasing Spider-Man in a truck, honking the horn at Spider-Man it was absolutely hilarious and terrifying at the same time.

Yeah Venom is my 4th favorite character of all time and I HAVE A LOT OF FAVORITE CHARACTERS. These movies are so fun and Venom is hilarious as well as an awesome monster, that scene of him fighting all the swat officers shrouded in smoke is so badass and a perfect set piece for the character. Tom Hardy such an incredible actor with great range. I recommend you react to / watch 'Bronson' (2008) which is inspired by a criminal known as 'Britians Most Violent Prisoner' - 'Charles Bronson' who Tom Hardy portrays in the film. (He even spent time and had phonecalls with Bronson). The film shows Tom Hardys incredible range of emotions and acting skill.

Honestly venom has always been one of my favorite characters and I’m glad they separated from the Spider-Man storyline to give venom his own time on screen. Tom Hardy could not have been better cast, his comedic timing is just perfect. It’s not the greatest movie of all time, of course, but it’s still a fun watch even if you’re not a fan of venom.

Rip to Brad Venable who voiced Venom in this film, This is his First and last Film to voiced Venom. Brad died at 2021. Tom did the voice for the Majority of the 2nd and 3rd film in honor of Brad. Also Rip Tony todd who also Voiced Venom In the PS5 Spiderman games. His voice was so similar to the ones from the Sony films and his Design is also similar to The Sony films just with the Dragon-Spider emblem on his chest. Edit: VENOM DIES IN THE 3rd film and ppl are sad that venom is gone, But venom is coming back due to the End credits and the Venom 4 film, Tom is not gonna be venom in the 4th film but spider-man’s Bully Flash Thompson will become Agent Venom like the one in the Comics

I see a lot of negative criticism about the current film and like some others I will wait awhile to watch it because I don't want that noise in my head when I absorb it. But this first and the second for that matter got tons of bad talk about too which frankly I think people just do for clicks and views these days anyway. However this film was an after market hit. So like households that have zero interest in comic book stuff. Probably Tom Hardy out the gate so he was a good casting choice. He's like Paul Rudd. People just adore him. The monster stuff and how it is represented which is cool as af as far as I'm concerned, also inspired me in 3d animation. But else I think it's the underdog story. The wholesome hero who never gets it wrong is fine to take in and all but I don't think many people short of clinical narcissist's can really relate to characters like that. Were somebody who blows it more than they get it right and who doesn't really have a shining public image just trying their best is something we can all feel. Someone who has a lot of angst but really they are externalizing the fact they want to do better and eventually because something important enough comes along rises to the challenge. And we get that in both characters here. It's a good formula for a story and when comparing this one to other Venoms and why this achieved such a high cult status.
