I take a mental health approach on this song.. although I totally agree with your statement I feel sometimes you can get so dissociated with a feeling of immense depression and Emptiness that sometimes you are unaware and only hoping you are going to make it out alive. Mental health can make you feel as if you are a soldier on the front lines of war not knowing if you will make it out of the situation alive.
