In rare situations. There is a man who is ridiculously well known, wealthy, respected, etc....and he is still underrated and underappreciated for his contributions to music. Enter Tom Delonge. This song is symbolic of that, an absolute underrated GEM.

Life is not perfect - this is evident. But even though when I feel down (sometimes really down) I listen to this song, and immediately realize that "life doesn't hurt, shouldn't hurt so badly". And then I start focusing on what's great and make me happy and trying to forget everything else. Thanks for the song, thanks for the words, and thanks for helping me carry my life on! :)

Lyrics [Intro] I'm flying and something's reaching out Vibrations, can you hear them now? Please help us, we are running out of time My brothers, we are deathly out alive I feel you on a far off distant land We fucked up, let's give ourselves a hand It's over from the heavens on down Heard footsteps, God's coming around [Verse 1] I got an ache like a cat thief's got an alarm It's got a sound like a gunshot over and over I've got a voice so lost off back in my head It takes the heart rate up then down even more I've got my friends face down like a kid in the dark They've got the same fear built up more even more I've let my eyes bright up like a predator shark To let my mind close down every hour by hour [Pre-Chorus] Finally, I get this feeling we're all alone in one big world Just to realize that all these shapes and colors are So it doesn't hurt so badly [Chorus] So life doesn't hurt, doesn't hurt so badly So life doesn't hurt, doesn't hurt so badly Please don't look at life, look at me so sadly Life shouldn't hurt, doesn't hurt so badly [Verse 2] Do you feel light shine in the darkest of nights? Or does the pain stack up from the skin to the core? Do you find every time that you cover your eyes To keep the tears held up, dripping down even more? Let the words come down, every line in a sight You put the young flames out it make you cower and cower If the sun breaks in to start a spark and a sign I promise you'll be here to let the light in [Pre-Chorus] [Chorus] [Verse 3] I'm floating and somethings reaching out Vibrations, can you hear them now? Please help us from the heavens on down Our footsteps, God's coming around Go! [Chorus] [Verse 3] Gotta make like a cat thief's got an alarm It's gotta sound like a gunshot over and over I've gotta voice so lost off back in my head It takes the heart rate up then down even more I've got my friends face down like a kid in the dark They've got the same fear built up more even more I've let my eyes bright up like a predator shark To let my mind close down every hour by hour

I stumble upon a really weird, annoying thing from time to time and that is people falsely calling things, persons or music "underrated"...for example there's a video of a guy naming his top ten most underrated Blink 182 songs. Then all he comes up with are the least known songs instead of underrated ones. that is not what underrated means. It doesn't mean no one knows the song, it means the a big lot of people give it much less credit than it deserves. A little known song can hardly be underrated when hardly any one knows it who could rate it. an underrated Blink song would be "I Miss You" or "Down" because many people liked it, many don't and those who like it often thinks it's pretty good. That is underrating, because those song are incredible and so artful and poetic. So this is what my long comment comes down to: Tom DeLonge to me is the most underrated songwriter I can think of. He put out 5 albums with AVA full of awesomeness and he often did what not many would have thought he couldn't do in terms of creativeness, poetry, melodies, originality and so on. Still most people think he's the shitty guitar player that sings about fucking dogs jerking off...that is underrating...
@reach2prasanna7 жыл бұрын
@Jan S I so much agree with you. I was in an AvA concert and Tom said they don't get played on radio nor they get featured in any mainstream media. I am surprised no film maker has used them in their soundtrack. I read a comment in one of their videos by a listener who said he/she was not even aware Tom was still making music. That broke my heart. For an array of such amazing work to go unnoticed, even by those who know Tom, is mind numbing. Although, as all fans do, I was once glad AvA is not mainstream because that's make us feel more personal with the band and their music, but now I really want everyone in the world to know of their incredible music.
@KParsonsNY7 жыл бұрын
As someone who listened to Blink 182 when they were on MTV back in the early 2000s and then rediscovered Blink right before Matt Skiba joined and then i started listening to AvA, I really wish this stuff was played on the radio. His music is so inspiring and forces someone to think deep and be open minded. I wish I discovered this all earlier.
@chippahchipperson7 жыл бұрын
yeah while Blink 182 might be looked down on as a whole lately it seems like, I would say "Apple Shampoo" and "Ben Wah Balls" are underrated. "I Miss You" might be more user friendly, but saying an unpopular song does not equal an underrated one is just like saying an underrated song has to be the most obscure song. I'm assuming the video you saw listed songs from Dude Ranch and B-sides and stuff not included on albums, and those are underrated too. I get what you are saying tho.
@annegibbs74175 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Tom is amazing. The radio doesn't play their music because it has too much meaning and they're inspiring. Most of the music on the radio isn't like that.

It's a segue into 'Young London', the following song on the album
@patrickkelly98373 жыл бұрын
It's somewhat of a one-sided Nietzschean advocacy for an Apollonian lifestyle as opposed to a Dionysian one, which in a way appropriately serves as an intro to "Young London," the very next song on the album. It flows nicely when the record is played straight through.
