I purchased this from Amazon and I’m so glad I did. After two weeks of instability I returned it. It was my daughter’s birthday present and even for a novice she was frustrated by its performance.

Yep: it’s got some issues for sure. What did your daughter experience with it? Amazon have a very handy return policy

My mom has something similar and I'm so happy for her. She would never go for separate speakers, amps etc. It makes me happy that she can listen to her records and we can talk about it and have fun without worrying about specs on her end.

The social side of record collecting - fantastic! What model does she have, out of interest?

Let the record play, no matter your budget, it is attainable. When people are mean , or snobbish, then it takes the air out of it for some. It takes time and effort to earn anything worthwhile If you have a stereo system , and it sounds good to you, then that’s all that matters! You can make upgrades along your journey

I bought the +Audio All in 1 record player and it’s wonderful. It shipped with the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, Pro-Ject Belt Drive Turntable with Carbon tonearm. I bought the Special Edition which includes the perfect size stand that can also hold up to 200 albums. It’s not an inexpensive system but the sound is outstanding and it takes up so little space. It was a great investment. Oh and the company is from your side of the Pond, London. It was free shipping and arrived in 3 days

Such a good option if the complexity of higher end turntables puts people off the hobby. Looks like a great option at a good price!

Very nice review indeed. Seems like an all right product. I feel like anything that gets people into our hobby/Obsession is pretty positive anyway I’d like the idea of saving with this one not everybody is as fortunate as I am to have a couple of vintage turntables that are actually changers. After this, they’ll probably want that lol
@soundmattersАй бұрын
These products lower the bar of entry, for sure. Your vintage changers sound neat.

The mid-point hiss on the volume control is probably caused by an inappropriately high value of potentiometer resistance, possibly coupled with a high level of input current noise being drawn through it by the following output stage. Here's what's happening.... 1. In the case for the minimum amount of volume, the 'wiper' (where the output is taken from) is effectively connected the reference ground (zero volts) where there is definitionally no voltage and therefore no noise to be picked up. At the maximum setting, the wiper travels through the resistive track and connects directly to the 'hot' side of the potentiometer, where the audio signal is applied, also simply applying the self-noise. 2. When the potentiometer is rotated to some point between the minimum and maximum position, the track resistance is seen from the wiper as the parallel resistance of the section leading up to the audio signal and the section pointing down to ground. This parallel resistance increases parabolically, reaching a maximum at the centre position, when the resistance on each side is equal. 3. All resistances, either singular or combined, produce an inherent noise voltage caused by the atoms that carry the electrons buzzing about and juggling the electrons around at a very low level due to thermal agitation, which increases in proportion to the square root of temperature (above absolute zero -273c) and resistance. As you rotate a potentiometer, the inherent thermal noise voltage therefore peaks at the centre position where the combined track resistance on the wiper is highest. 4. The potentiometer's resistance 'amplifies' the input noise currents of the amplifier it is connected to, converting the otherwise innocuous current into voltage in a manner directly proportional to its resistance (a resistor is essentially a voltage-to-current converter), therefore input noise currents are most effectively converted into voltage noise when the potentiometer is at the centre position. My bet is that all of this is caused by an excessively high potentiometer resistance value, which generates a substantial amount of thermal noise relative to the signal level, or use of a following amplifier that has excessive input current noise, making it unsuitable for use with a high-impedance (resistance) source such as said potentiometer. Such an amplifier might be a simple chip amplifier, designed for use with a line source of a few hundred ohms of output impedance, not tens of kilo-ohms!

Thanks Michael for the tech breakdown. Love your input here.

Thanks! Looks like many people buying this will outgrow it soon or maybe return it. I wonder how the Andover SpinDuo would do? It's compact and costs about twice as much.
@soundmattersАй бұрын
I see Andover have an all-in-one record player at around $1500 with a Pro-Ject tonearm

Interesting review (not for me though) but the link above goes to an Amazon page of car horns ... :)
@soundmattersАй бұрын
How funny: the link re-directs depending on what country you're in. If Amazon don't stock the product where you live, it will try and find a close match. Car horns though? Funny :)

Does someone know another good player that gets the vintage sound well and does not affect my vinyls?
@soundmattersАй бұрын
What's your budget? And is it an all-in-one you're looking for? Or are you happy to go with a turntable and separate amp/speakers?
@floyd101954Ай бұрын
Check out the + Audio systems. They are not cheap, all top quality components. I have had mine 3 years now and it was a very worthwhile investment. We play it everyday that we are home.

Looking for a decent integrated turntable with speakers. I really don't care about Bluetooth. Budget is $500.00 or so. Anybody familiar with the CoolGeek CS-01? What's out there? I don't wanna spend 2 weeks researching these things, but want something better than what $250 appears to buy.....
