Su is 16 in this video. Rondo of nightmare is a song based on Alice in wonderland as she is Alice being chased by something. The nasal part is her accepting death and just begging to see what’s chasing her the song was originally called kill the Alice but that scrapped The Kami band are all guys wearing wigs and make up to make them effectively nameless. As the Kami band is many members who rotate out if they have their own projects. Granted looking them up is actually easy but that’s the idea. If you want to see how they do in a western setting check out Ijame, Dame, Zetti. Their first western festival in the UK at the sonicsphere a five song set that ends with IDZ Also you haven’t checked out headbanger which is a fan favorite especially the 1997 concert

"The waning moon shines bright, but there's a gloom of rampant madness. I hear laughing all around. It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam. There's no escape. It flickers, appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmarish rondo keeps repeating. The light of dawn is so far away, I have no choice but to run through the darkness." Hi Brit! Good reaction! "Rondo of Nightmare" is a song about a girl trying to escape from... something. We don't really know what it is, and part of the song is that we never really find out. When Su-metal puts her head down and sings softly she's pleading with, whatever it is, to at least show itself before she perishes. As with all nightmares it never gets resolved. Su has two solos on each of the first two albums, where Moa and Yui have two duets each on the first two albums. The Kami Band are absolute metal masters and this "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro really shows it! There's a pool of Kamis and they rotate in and out depending on availability as they all have their own bands and projects, but here in order of solos we have: Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (bass), and Hideki Aoyama (drums).

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 And… that's why we made her our Queen at sixteen years old. : ) Her voice has only gotten better since that March 2014 concert. This song, and 'Akatsuki' from the same concert are what made me a die-hard fan. Su performed three solos that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. The other album solo is 'Amore', and the song 'Kagerou' (known as "Tattoo" at the time), was performed as a solo song on the 2018 tour. She has also done a couple of cover songs, each for a single live performance. They are 'Tamashii no Rufuran' (Soul's Refrain) and 'White Love' . That Black Night Budokan concert is still one of my favorite BABYMETAL shows of all time.

this may very well be my favourite song. You may have noticed that it's unusually dark for a BABYMETAL song. It's about a person being trapped in a recurring nightmare, finally giving up on trying to escape the mysterious presence coming towards them through the darkness. I love how the music supports the haunting atmosphere, and how the melody manages to be both dark and beautiful at the same time. The quiter part in the middle still gives me shivers every time.

Thank you so much! Yay! I've been waiting on this one! It was excellent wasn't it! Great reaction as always with Babymetal! Su is our metal goddess! To give a little info...you weren't far off in calling the Kamiband outfits zombie-like. Their costumes are based off Japanese burial robes and corpse paint. And yes, its paint, even Boh-san's (bassist) awesome lighting/arrows tribal looking head decal. So good call on that. Someone already put the lyrics and basically explained what the meaning of the song is, but I will add that in the first verse she's still running and trying to escape from "it", while in the final verse she's accepted that she cannot escape and says she can only fall to the darkness. !!!!! Such dark lyrics from Babymetal!!! I love that the overwhelming majority of their stuff is positive or at least inspiring, but to get ones like this...ugh! I absolutely love it! One fan has said that all of Su's solos are predominantly darker in overall tone (up until Amore). Lastly, my mother raised me on metal and rock. I grew up listening to Metallica, Pantera, Judas Priest, Queen, Boston, and ect....and through all that I came to absolutely love the electric guitar! However, this performance stole my love of guitar and gave it allllll to Boh-san! Omfg! His bass solo was just unequivocal badassery! My favorite Kami is still Ohmura-san (I just love how expressive he is), and I still have the most respect for the extremely missed Fujioka-san (kogami!), but Boh has stollen my love for guitars!!! Thanks again! Next recommendation is something from Black Babymetal (which is just a Yui and Moa duet), and possibly one of the most metal songs ever!...Sis Anger. The lyrics of this talk about disliking guys who are full of themselves or only give excuses for horrible personal faults lol! Sorry for not having a link to give...but I think there's a live compilation that was really well done out there that usually slips by copyright issues. Have fun! Kitsune up! \m/ (Edit: typos)

They say when Su-metal was born, she was holding a microphone. And instead of crying, she sang. The three young ladies in Babymetal are true prodigies. You can teach singing and dancing, but you can't teach attitude and confidence. That was a difficult song to perform. It's not easy to sing an independent melodic line over an odd time signature. It's hard to find your pocket, but Su makes it look effortless.
@Kane_SIF4 жыл бұрын
Well, to be fair, her in ear monitor had countdowns for helping with the time signature changes, but that doesn't lower her incredible performance 😉 See this to hear what I'm talking about kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHXEoGyoatChp8U

@@Kane_SIF Understood, but to find the pocket in the music where she loops the melody, even with a click track, is tricky.Think of having one song in your earbud in your left ear, and a different song with a different beat in your right ear, and find the place to loop your melody to bridge the two. It's not as easy as she makes it look. And she is dancing and performing on top of it. This is one of her harder songs to sing technically. Certainly the most difficult on the debut album.

Su strikes again 😂 About the Korean thing, don't ppl read channel name ? 😅 Mischiefs of Gods bc the band (musicians) is called Kami Band, Kami meaning God (in this case, bc Kami can also mean hair, or paper, but different kanji 😉), and seeing their skill level, it's not underrated imho. Band is all male. Here we had Leda Cygnus (Shinji Yuuto, 1st guitar solo), Takayoshi Ohmura (2nd guitar), BOH (Bohte Daisuke, bass) and Hideki Aoyama on drums. During that live, Su was 16, Yui and Moa 14. One of the 2 lives that were released under European label (German iirc) with Live in London, so they're quite affordable/cheap compared to Japanese releases, and they're available on Amazon (told you last time I think lol ). Yes, that song is great, but for me, not at the top 😀 It's about being trapped in a nightmare and can't escape (more informations from other usual commenters I guess). For next ones, maybe react to the other 2 without Su (known as Black Babymetal), with Onedari Daisakusen or Song 4. But yeah, Akatsuki is fine too. Many commented about the unfinished version but imo No Rain No Rainbow is better in term of slower song, and 'regular' Akatsuki (again, live in Budokan 😂) is fire (pun intended if you watch it). Maybe a double feature with both versions ? See you next time 😉

I was already a Babymetal fan by the time I first saw this video (years ago now). But this performance, with its staging, creating the image of a music box dancer waltzing up on the platform while the band below plays the heavy metal chorus on the slowly rotating stage... And then, when she comes in with that "scream" not 1 cent off pitch... That was when my (decades ago) 16 year old self fell completely gobsmacked in love with Su-metal. There's no consensus on whether the quiet verse is: -lipsync to the backing track -the soundboard switching in an effect -or Su- using nasal resonance. All are plausible. Great choice for the thumbnail.

Su is Queen nobody disputes that, but I think its Black Babymetal time, the power of cute that Moa chan and Yui chan wield is honestly scary, I really don't think there is any better than those two at what they do. They are responsible for the way the audience becomes part of the show, which is very important to Babymetal. Wasn't sure what you'd make of the Kami Band (rightly named, God Band) solos as it's Metal all the way through but you clearly appreciated their superb musical skills. You're right to think they look like zombies as their bone-white and grave-black make-up, together with their corpse shrouds, does signify they are dead...but clearly reanimated enough to play excellently too! Not that we really doubted it after seeing your previous reactions but you clearly seem happy to join with The One (the Babymetal fanbase) and freely offer up your soul to Queen Su, our Metal goddess, for her colossal collection. She appreciates each one, I'm sure, as does the Fox God, and she looks after them well. Your appreciation of Su's vocal abilities is clear too (she's a soprano with a range of C4 to G#5 and while, like yourself, I don't really understand what that means, it's clearly very impressive!) as is your appreciation of how every note she sings, every facial expression she makes and each movement she does is the result of passion and practice, practice, practice. No-one works as hard as Babymetal on their choreography and their choreographer was due to organise the Tokyo Olympic opening ceremony before covid appeared. The red ruff is only worn on this song, btw. Another Su solo would have to be Akatsuki (AK-AT-SKEE), as you mentioned, and we'd all enjoy seeing your heart burst as you watched that little epic solo but there's already a few mentions of some of Yui and Moa's duets, particularly the best Metal Rap ever about how girls can twist their dads around their fingers when they want something (Onedari Daisakusen - Operation Beg Dad) and you deserve to see that cuteness and adorableness overload! We're all happy to stay on the Babymetal train (which obviously consists solely of the first class carriages and powerful engine of a Japanese bullet train) with you and look forward to seeing you pull into Babymetal Central every week. Additional trains as well as one per week would be fine too. Here's a couple of links to Akatsuki (the beautiful, epic one from Black Night ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8 ) and the 'unfinished'/acoustic one from Legend 97 ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5mpfYKvZp6grqM or the same version but with English subtitles - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6LCg3uKZp6hg9U ) and also to Onedari Daisakusen at Legend 97 (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rn6veZWwgNSrhdE ) or there's also a compilation with English subtitles (their choreo is so tight that compilations work fine as their performance is always perfectly matched to the music, though some don't like them) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zp2Wo517prWMZ8U . Lots to choose from there and of course we're happy to see you react to them all! Superb, real reaction yet again. The volume on the performance could have been a bit higher but thar's not a complaint - we just love hearing Su! No-one can see the future but none of us will be too surprised to see your bias wall being slowly replaced by pics of Su, Yui and Moa and, gradually, your name evolving to British Kawaii Metal Stan with 6 Babymetal songs per week and a side project of K-Pop! @@britkpopreacts So just to clarify a little of this and in case no one has given you the full rundown about the Kami Band. As Anthony said, they are the "God Band" and are dressed in white with white faces and dark makeup otherwise. There's a reason. The white shrouds are traditional burial shrouds of the dead in Japan. They are meant to be the reanimated corpses of the dead metal gods because the purpose of BABYMETAL is to resurrect the metal genre of music in Japan (which was almost non-existent back when they formed). Each member is the "god" of their instrument, chosen by the Fox god to help BABYMETAL bring metal back to the galaxy. The group is also like an intro into metal for girls who aren't sure if they like metal, but the lore is pretty awesome overall!

"I listen [/react] to other music." Only reacts to Babymetal. And I'm totally fine with it. :-) Su-metal and also Moametal and Yuimetal they are at home on stage, it's like we are guest in their home. As you said: owns the stage. How can such a goofball, Su-chan, off-stage turn into such a performance beast ? Best way I think of it is, she throws herself 110% into the performance. The musicians, are kind of like a "super group". Actually really everyone involved in Babymetal is hugely talented, experienced and hardworking. The deadly combo ! Bassist BOH has make up, not a tattoo. (the official story is: the Fox God takes them over and changes their appearance ;-) ) From an interview with bassist BOH (translated from Japanese to English): Q : Was there any request from Kobametal at the moment when you became a god of bass? B : The first one from Kobametal was, "No need to hold back by a reason why they are a girl or an idol. Just do it as heavy and loud as you can." All the member of Kami Band loves Metal, but can't do like that in another jobs, can we? So nothing makes us happier so much because we do our job and can enjoy it! Q : So the feeling I got that Kami Band must have enjoyed at lives from footages and pictures is true, isn't it! B : I bet. But at the same time Babymetal is one of the hardest jobs ever. Its play is severe. And a god of drums and two god of guitar are incredibly good and severe. Once a member play wrong a little bit... even get out of the rhythm a little bit, all others throw a look at the one. (laugh) and more to say, it has a concept that we deliver only a good play as possible that we developed as possible. Our first objective is to re-create original sound. First we try to play it live just the same as programmed version, then we make some arrangements for live when we feel odd though we played just the same. Anyway it's only for minor things. React to all the Babymetal songs please ! :-)

On a side note: The "Goof ball" existed in school, in her puberty. Referring to her like that now would be the same as thinking we are still the dorks we used to be at that age. Most probably you not recognise her as the woman Suzuka, instead of the girl.
@autohmae4 жыл бұрын
@@laughingbuddha2948 When I wrote it, I was kind of blanking on what word to use, goof ball is all I could came up with. Su-metal was almost like a separate entity to Suzuka, only coming out when she was on stage. Almost like when someone might get split-personality when under extreme pressure/stress. Su-metal was her creation to fit her role in Babymetal. As she mentioned, Su-metal and Suzuka are slowly getting closer. Which means Suzuka is growing into the part and feels she can be herself more on stage. And I think what we see on stage is the result of grown up Suzuka and Su-metal almost fully merged. In recent years we got to see more of her 'goofy' side (I still don't know what word to use).
@laughingbuddha29484 жыл бұрын
@@autohmae I understand. For some reason I was reminded of Michael Jackson, and the almost unbelievable split between his private personality and the one on stage. An extreme example of course, but I wouldn't like to think of Suzuka even remotely in that category. My feeling is, that what we witness with her on stage (e.g. her "drunk dancing" on Tattoo) is the typical Japanese inability to adjust to the unrehearsed/unexpected. While they do try, it always looks out of place. Would love to see a private interview with her now, and see if my thoughts are correct. Kitsune up!

@@laughingbuddha2948 To be completely fair, a lot of people hold similar senses of humor and even a lot of their personalities from their teenage years until well into their 20's, because the brain is developing all the way until you are 25. I would say autohmae was close with goofball, not meaning it in a mean spirited way. I think he/she just meant that she was bubbly in her personality and goofy/playful in her sense of humor and temperament. She just likes to laugh, but knows exactly when to be serious. I would say that is like most adults. My friends and I are almost 40 and we still joke around like we're 20, but the moment something happens we're there for each other and are dead serious about it. I can joke around with my students, but they know when I go quiet that I'm serious they need to stop messing around and get the work done. Once work is done, we can have fun. As for Suzuka and Su-Metal merging, you can absolutely see that in the newest videos from Metal Galaxy. Look at "Pa Pa Ya", she is smiling and making funny faces while performing, then you have her finish a verse and as she puts the mic down you see her death stare. It's actually a little jarring after so many years of her just being Su-Metal on stage to see her overtly having fun as Suzuka is a bit weird, but I like it.

This is one of the most heavy and dark songs Babymetal has, it is usually the bait that drives us heavy metal guys into the foxhole. Song is about the moon going dark and a dark presence follows Su while she tries to escape through the darkness. At the end of the song that something she doesn't know what it is catches her and she falls to darkness, that's why the song ends abruptly. For me is my second Su favorite solo, best is Akatsuki. There is a Budokan version you can react relatively safe in KZbin. Ah yes, Budokan was at 2014 so Su was just 16. It is crazy. btw. As Babymetal material is really scarce in KZbin because Amuse blocks everything, the guys at the discord did a list with some of the selected best performances of the bands for every song to try to help reactors if they want to venture out of KZbin. I link it to you so if you find it useful to work with it, or just for your own pleasure to watch other versions of the songs you already did. docs.google.com/document/d/1DqPsavocgGvCyZfUHvrkgJ5KZMaMkmMgjy2UxNNG96E/edit Thank you once more for the video.

I think it's cool to put that in your title. A lot of reactors to Babymetal are metalheads or atleast more towards heavy music, while Babymetal has a lot of variety to offer especially in their latest album, and with people like you I think it gives more perspectives into their music and aesthetics that a lot of metalheads might not see or enjoy as much. With that being said, I reccomend you to check out 'Da Da Dance' might be more in your alley, and not many reactors react to it because (maybe) it's too pop-y for most. It's one of the top track in their 3rd album and they got some really really nice MV for it.

I wonder if any kpop idol ever watched Babymetal perform. Because I personally feel that Babymetal outperforms most kpop groups. There are a few vocals that can match Su-metal among them, but can any of them perform for two hours straight while dancing? I've seen Babymetal live, and I'm just amazed at how they can keep up the energy throughout that amount of time and still sing clean!

I don’t think anybody has say this but, I’m going to. If this was animated version of the song or a MV the way the Kami Band played would make a great entrance of “Alice” running into the woods but it start slowly getting dark and then get darker. Alice running around to and fro and she sees the moon but it’s a far distance no matter how much she runs to it, it is still further away. You hear a laughter but she doesn’t know where it coming from. The part where Suzuka start singing the lyrics the person could have perfectly match the situation. If anybody can explain it better I would love to hear it.

So I would like to enlarge your problem. You have covered "Gimme", "RoR", "Pa Pa Ya", "NRNR" and "Rondo" to date. How about these very new songs performed during European tour this year? They will show you their different aspects. Instrumental players are not original Kami band but US-Kamis. They are great, too. Can't remember anyone mentioning problems with this particular video, so I think you should be good. The two Budokan concerts were in March 2014, Su is born Dec 1997, Moa is born Jul 1999 and Yui is born Jun 1999. Suggestion: if you'd be interested you could also react to a song from their "original" group Sakura Gakuin, which Babymetal was a sub-group of for the first 2.5 years. It's obviously a J-Pop idol group and this would be Suzuka's "graduation" song from 2012 (they have a school theme, so you graduate the group when you graduate middle school at age 15), My Graduation Toss kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYjcp2SIZ6xksJY . Moa and Yui are of course also in it, maybe you can spot them out, too. I personally think it would be interesting, maybe you could point out some differences between J and K-Pop, even though this is not your regular run of the mill J-Pop group because they're all 11 to 15 years old. Maybe you just enjoy seeing Moa, Yui and mainly Suzuka because she was the centerpiece that year, when they were 13 and 15 and come to like the group/music in general. I'm not a pop music fan at all, but somehow this group got to me. But like I said, only if you'd be interested in branching out even a little bit more.
