One of the biggest mistakes ever mad in EE's history - Killing off Angie Watts! Anita Dobson may have had no desire to return to Eastenders as a full time regular, however I am sure she may of have been convinced to return on short term stint(s). Howver this opportunity has now been wasted by killing off the character out of spite because Anita said NO to a full time contract.

I guess it bought Sharon back though and she’s been more or less full time in Eastenders for 17 years now! It would have been interesting to see what they would have done with her when Den came back; my guess is that she would have been his murderer instead of Chrissie.

Anita was asked to come back to die off screen in a storyline but declined as she wanted the fans to remember Angie how she was rather than what she became.

Seems very odd Jan is weeping over Dens grave when in reality, Jan was the one who knew Den was alive. Strong error there.

Yep...well, perhaps it was tears of guilt over Angie’s death and the deceit of helping Den

That and possibly that at this point Jan, like all of us, still believed Den was dead. It was a while before he would return and anyone decided that Jan knew all along.

@chris7921. Fair enough. It was a long time ago and I must admit I don't remember the story in full. However my point was that surely we were only told that Jan knew he was alive at the point Den returned. Therefore, it could have been that when the original funeral scene was written I hadn't been decided that he would return years later and at the point of that original episode airing Jan, like everyone else, may not have known that den was alive, the writers only deciding many years later that she had known all along and had helped him.
