He rules from emotion, fitting the sentence to the person, and does not display an extensive legal knowledge. This works well for the court he is in, where the majority of cases seem to be automatically generated citations from revenue raising traffic cameras, that most reasonable people would agree should be expunged or reduced. However, this attitude would be lacking in more hotly contested criminal cases, or in cases that involve complex laws. In one of these videos, where a member of one of the Native American tribes of New England is challenging a ticket on jurisdictional grounds arguing whether a Rhode Island law would apply on what he claimed to be tribal lands, Caprio explains to him the other courts to which he could escalate the appeal, and says very decisively "We won't be deciding on a precedent here", acknowledging that such complex legal challenges are not those he is taking on.

Thank you for the kind words. I didn't know who Judge Caprio was until I had toe surgery last Fall. I flipped through the channels and there he was. I was blown away that he listens to the people and gives them a break. I work with the public and they have paid it forward to me so I did the same. Inspector Quinn and the judge play off each other very well. Super fun to watch!!

It is wonderful to see how being in a difficult situation has moved Angie to think beyond her pain to help a complete stranger.
