People like Mario are what I love about aviation. Experienced, more than willing to help others.

Mario is a great guy. I moved to Alaska 9 years ago and met him. He took me up flying in his little 150 and we landed off airport. I knew that moment that this was what I wanted todo. He has helped a lot of young people get started in aviation. offered his 150 for rent at a lower cost giving people access to flying at an affordable price to get their License. give the shirt off his back kind a guy.

I had my seats made by these guys for my PA28... Definitely on the expensive side, however they are still much cheaper than hiring someone to reupholster your aircraft, and I've gotten lots of compliments on their quality. I highly recommend them.

After watching this video I called the seat company. My plane partners and I are ordering new seats soon for our Archer and These look like exactly what we are wanting. Thanks for the great video, and showcasing a REAL craftsman company. Another neat thing about the company is that we are in Louisiana and the process of ordering the seat kits is very easy on our part.

Glad you put the 'head rest' back on them; kind of a misnomer to say 'rest' when they are designed to keep your neck from being broken in an impact (reflection).

Doing the Cessna Seat Shimmy to make sure the seat rail pin and the seat backs are lock has always part of my before engine start check list. I think it was one of the things a long ago instructor had added to her checks, and it's just carried forward through all the Pipers and Cessna's I've flown. I even have had my wife and daughter do the shimmy in the right seat because that side can kill you as easy as the left. No issues in flight fortunately, the seat shimmy check has caught a seat pin not being fully set though. This reminds me to have a check of sorts for the back seat to since someone could grab the front seats if their seat has a problem. Hmm...

The year that I stopped to talk to you at Oshkosh, one of the Stinson's that landed in our group had the seat back break just at the end of the landing roll. Good thing it was the Co-pilots seat back that broke. BTW if you own a Cessna there is a handy tool to check the wear of the seat tracks. It's a Go-No Go gauge. I believe Mcfarlane carries it.

Chris, I'd just gotten over my PTSD from redoing the interior in my Comanche a couple of years ago, but now it's back. Thanks for that:-) I used Airtex ( these guys didn't have stuff for a PA24) and wow was it a ton of work. More than I ever expected. But the result was so worth it.

not a pilot (yet ?) but I understand one human reflex - If we are falling, we grab to anything in reach. So if yours seat back get loose on takeoff, you will grab the controls and pull on them. Thats just in human nature. Same goes for both pilot and co-pilot/passenger. Maybe item to passenger breafing? Thanks for video.

It’s a good thing to make sure your rails are clean and everything underneath mechanically is well lubed I’ve had an incident before where it they thought it was latched, but the whole thing slipped all the way back to the very back seat, Ness with all the landing always keep your compartment, clean of dirt and debris

Seats can be a real risk if not properly maintained. Many of these seats are just articulate Aluminum Lawn Chairs and we all know how often those break. Others are Mini tube air frame construction. Either way they need maintenance.

Had the stop pin disengage on take off (Still on the ground). But yeah you take for granted what seats actually do, or can do when they fail. Luckily it grabbed the next hole and stopped, but I was already at a weird position to fly comfortably. Now I think if I were alone how would I handle that and fly, especially in a critical phase. Good PSA and looks like a great place to get your seats checked / refurbished.

Being an old aircraft. The seats would have been made of heavier material then that of today. The new seats should weigh less then the old ones. Better options from the new ones. Better performance from the plane with lighter seat. MTOW would be better.

Idk man. I once preflighted an ol 172 while a student for the first time (i fly lsa but the wind was a bit much so he told me to try out the Cessna for fun?.) I couldn't get the seat to latch in place. Plane had to be about a '55 or so. Coming off a flight design full glass ctls 😅. He told me me not to worry about it 🚩🚩🚩 Thank God I was not flying solo my seat shot 3 feet back on takeoff not sure I'll ever fly one again 😢

I had a seat structure catastrophically fail in one of the braces. It resulted in the front seat rails detaching after the structure deformed. The seat rotated backward like a recliner, with the seat-stop acting as the pivot. It happened as I taxied away from the fuel pit. This was right in the middle of a long day towing gliders. I doubt I could have recovered if it was on takeoff. Could have been fatal for me and the glider pilot.
