So great to see a well respected outdoor angler like Bill Herzog still get excited about catching wild rainbow trout. Great action. Thank Justin.

Its because of your help I learn to fish salmon and steelhead Jarrod! Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks! Fishing is all I do now besides work (so I can afford to go fishing). I can only imagine how many souls you have saved through teaching us to successfully fish! God bless you my friend

Thank you my friend, I love sharing with others my man. Fishing is just something that has always been different for me and now I have a platform I can share my knowledge, love and passion for a sport that has been part of my life as far back as I can remember. Take care my friend and thank you for the kind words!

Oh BTW great tip on lowering the rods for the hook set. I run Sidewinder Side Planners w/ K14 Lemon Heads in Alaska for Kings and Silvers. This year i'll lower my profile on the rods and see if we get better hook sets

According to the Yakama nation, the Yakima river basin used to have hundreds of thousands of salmon (chinook, coho, and sockeye) and steelhead returning every year. I wish everyone would slow down with the snake river battle and try to increase the returns to the Yakima river basin. Could you imagine Bill, a salmon and steelhead season on the yak, naches, bumping rivers?!
@aidanwoods2122 жыл бұрын
Do you actually think the Yakima goes into the snake?😂😂😂
@jimsomerville39242 жыл бұрын
@@aidanwoods212 I don't think Kc alluded to Yakima being a trib of Snake.
@anothersomebody81952 жыл бұрын
@@aidanwoods212 I didn't read that in what he said at all 😋 It sucks living in yakima and knowing some of the best fish are being caught in... Tim Ponds 🤦♂️ All these green new deal twits don't give a crap about the dams and wildlife cause their homes are in floodzones
@kcp70422 жыл бұрын
@@jimsomerville3924 thank you for understanding what i was talking about. I was born, raised, and I live in Yakima. I know where the Yakima river basin flows from and to. I am saying that we shouldn’t be putting all of our eggs into the “breach the snake river dams” basket. We should put some into the Yakima river basin salmon recovery basket as well.

I’ve been following the hatchery’s and projects to reintroduce salmon back to the Yakima. It’s cool to see the expansion of the seasons and population of these salmon.

great video! I read Bills steel heading book back in my college days. he's a legend. I would love if you could get bill and brian chan together for a video. Do a conventional versus fly rod competition.

I see there using direct drive reels and old poles. What is the set up? I use direct reels too. Got them from my grandfather. Very tough to get a fish in. Might need a better rod . Thinking glass rods from eagle claw but would like to know the rod there using.

the noted the reel in the video. if you're looking for a soft rod, go to a sportsman show and check out the walleye rods.
