+christ0 And I cannot agree with you more. I can remember Southern and TVS gave good closedowns each night (that Southern guitar jingle still shivers down my spine with nostalgia) and the BBC played God Save Our Queen each night. I think a reason into why TV isn't as good now compared to the 1980s is 24-hour TV. I don't why TV executive refuse to let their stations shut down overnight now. It was good because they had less hours to fill. Less is more/more is less as they say. And you are right about Jackpot247 too. Just a awful filler overnight programme which shouldn't even grace the airwaves now, let alone then. If they are going to have overnight TV, put some quality in like "Late Night Late" ITV did in the late 80s/early 90s. PS: You can see a KZbin video taking the mickey of Jackpot or something similar somewhere on here. It is quite funny.
