AnglingBuzz ICE (#4) - Midwinter ice fishing means different things depending on where you live. Some folks might be experiencing thick ice and deep snow, while others are getting their first taste of hardwater for the season. We love this time of year because ice conditions are peaking and there's a wide variety of fishing opportunities available for a multitude of species. Buckle up - episode #4 of AnglingBuzz ICE is longest and most diverse episode of the series!

10:30....Love the "filet" knife. A slicing knife from an old cheap "Farberwear" set probably bought at WalMart 10 years ago!lol! Hey....whatever works! As long as it's sharp, It's a little stiffer but looks like he's got it down...

Those were some long cisco's! Cisco is one of my favorite baits to use for lake trout. Tip: can lay them dead directly on the bottom with your tipups and slay giant lake trout! Nothing beats it! You wouldn't normally picture lake trout as a scavenger fish but it works!! From what i understand lake trout will naturally whack at the live cisco knocking them out or killing them and they then sink to the bottom and the lake trout swim back down and scarf them up.! Probably why it works!? Pretty neat!! Nature you scary! Lol..Cisco aren't very easy to find or catch either but when you do, Fish on!! White swedish pimples tipped with smelt chunks! Sshhh... Go Linder's!

Hey Tony, don't worry, you don't need all of that stuff to be happier, unless you want to be broke, really! Many of the best fishermen I know don't even own a boat and always fish from shore, and when they go ice fishing, they use no tent nothing, even when it is under -30 oc here in Saskatchewan, not because they cannot afford it but because they love it. And fishing in your living room (the Yeti mobile home) must be nice once in a while but really, all the expenses, all the gas, all the trouble, I don't think it is worth it, but if they like it good for them. Yhey just need to show us as many things to buy as possible to make a living and I understand, and they will catch a bunch of people who believe that they need all of that to become a better fisherman. Don't we go hunting and fishing because it is a different world, because we want to experience something different than our couch and TV ? Don't we love to see if we are tough enough to be out there while everybody else is at home or in a fishing shack or tent or palace (Yéti). It is nice to be exposed to the elements to feel alive and then when we come back after a long day of chasing trophy whitetails one on one (and no bait, no camera, no stand) at -30 oc or after a long day of ice fishing, sitting on a bucket exposed to the elements, or laying flat on our belly on an old sleeping bag to look in the hole all day long, we appreciate more our warm house when we come back. Don't worry, you are the real thing , you are a real Canadian fisherman.

Not to brag or anything but this time of year in Oregon the trout season is just opening anda small rainbow trout is around 10 to 20 lbs. last time i was out there I pulled an 11.5 lb'er.

The Great Lake's grows some giant's. Not uncommon to catch rainbows and brown's in the mid to upper 20lb range. Just here in Wisconsin in the small stream's and rivers they don't get very big, anything over 22in is pretty dang big. I have caught a few over 24 with my biggest so far being 25.5in brown.

Won't know unless you try. I would downsize though. When I fished the tributaries, I would buy all the same stuff and tie my own spawn sacs with only 2 or 3 egg's in em and I always did well.

It would have been easier just to bring a barrel of fish into your house and fish out of that. What you're doing I don't consider to be outdoor fishing. A little pup tent is fine but when you start parking mobile homes over the ice, that's not fishing
