Love this video 😊.....takes me back to happy times.😊..... My first recollection of my first encounter with fishing was when at around 5yrs old I was trying to catch tiny fish with a butterfly net from my parents pond...it was fenced of...but I over reached (remember it so well!!) fence post snapped ....and I went in 😮.....only a very shallow ..with weed covered face I got out 😊... But ever since then I've been total in love with fishing, wildlife, ponds ect .....still can't go by a field with a pond in it to just have a look 😊.. so much I've learnt from fishing.... nature & wildlife....what could ever be better ❤❤❤❤😊

What a wonderful soul Chris Yates is. Such enthusiasm for nature, a wonderful video.

Chris & Hugh are what I call proper anglers. They fish for the pleasure of being there, sometimes catching fish is a bonus. Compare that to the matchmen, whose only intent is cramming as many fish as they can into keepnets whilst hoping to come first. It's almost a different world.

Agreed. It’s a shame now that most youngsters intro to fishing now is slinging a heavy lead out (or worst with a bait boat) using a 3lb tc rod. Took my daughter for her first fishing trip. Float fished a little pond and taught her proper watercraft… back to basics. Plumbing the swim. Bait presentation with a nice float setup. She loved it. I went after the tench using lift method and pulled out some decent tench up to 6lb… she was amazed. I love carp fishing but they must learn the basics first whilst appreciating the wildlife around… and the beauty of the country…

@@gfintradingsounds idyllic, well done , keep her interest going, it will be a lifelong hobby for her hopefully . I gave up coarse fishing and now fly fish, my local lake closed to day anglers and the other fisheries had so many carp in them you couldn't fail to hook one ! Trout fishing on Chew Valley lakes my thing now 🙂

Great little film. Chris Yates is like the 'Merlin' of the angling would. A magic sole that truly epitomises the term "there's more to it than catching fish"

After the old Anglers Co-op was swallowed up, angling seemed to lose it's connection to the environment as far as looking after the quality of water, fighting pollution. Here's hoping this helps re-invigorate the public to care.

Explain why what he said was rubbish?

I think that Chris Yates was, perhaps, speaking in a language that you just didn't understand. I understood him perfectly well and I feel sorry for those who did not. It is their loss.
