The Anglo-Saxon housecarls refused to surrender at Hastings. Fighting to the bloody end, their shield wall never broke until the last man fell to the earth. For England and Harold, they fought and died, never abandoning their oaths.

I agree so much, I am so proud to be an Anglo Saxon, I’m not really crazy about the fact that our nation spend so much of our history spreading the culture of other nations and other peoples customs who I think haven’t served us very well, they are erasing us. We need to get our spirit back, and go back to our own fathers traditions and deities. We could stick up for ourselves better when we knew who we were. My nation is the English people wherever they are. All the children of Anglo Saxon fathers with Anglo Saxon surnames are my nation. And I love my people. The most unique of all the Germanic nations.

@Austin Stokes No, it was not. it was first written down in old english (as far as we know) but its widely accepted to be much older than that. If anything its from the time of when brittain wasnt even lived in by germanics (anglo's, saxons, jutes, etc)

@Austin Stokes Yes, again, when it was written the story was already MUCH older than that. it is widely accepted it got brought over during the time of germanic resettlement of birttain during the fall of the roman empire... It varies, though the figure is only as low as 10% in South Western regions such as Cornwall. It can get as high as 40% everywhere else in England though, particularly the eastern parts of England. There is some truth behind what people say about the further east you go, the more Anglo-Saxon it gets. It’s never as low as 5% in England though! In fact according to recent studies such as Ancestry DNA, the English people predominantly owe their heritage to the Anglo-Saxons and the western European region, in fact even the Scandinavian figure was higher than the Brythonic figure.
