Wow. Impressive how the map continued to pose challenges to the player, even after that horrifying early game.
@magicstew453 жыл бұрын
Right? CW4 tends to have difficult early game that turns to steamrolling the creep once you make it far enough/figure out the level. This really kept that difficulty untill the very end.
@josephpaulson94953 жыл бұрын
@@magicstew45 It seems like the key in making a REALLY good level is to design some kind of threat that constantly threatens the player, like the eggzilla, that serves as the win condition for the map in that you need to kill it in order to get that steamroll effect through the rest of the map. Right now any map with emitters and some spores just doesn't do that well enough, because you just get some canons and missiles down, and after that there is pretty much nothing left stopping you from winning effortlessly. Eggs themselves are a good step in the right direction, but there needs to be something like programable mid-game events with a countdown timer that will really push the players to their limit.
@phaolo63 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it was a great map. I wonder what hellish math function makes the egg ring move. Anyway, maybe this map could have been won quickly with an early move towards the spore launcher to nullify it? Btw, I wish it spouted a new ring after the previous one collapsed.
@rendomstranger86983 жыл бұрын
@@josephpaulson9495 Seeing as it was the case in the previous game, i suspect that there is the option to give emitters a startup time. The problem is that this doesn't get used in the campaign or most maps. Give an emitter a 2 to 5 minute startup time and things will be much more challenging if the player doesn't act fast enough. Place the emitter in an area the player needs to fight for (like near the redon ore with a delay on spore launchers) and things can easily stay challenging throughout the entire map. I've only made 1 map for myself in creeper world 3. No mods, coding or anything of the sort. And even with that complete lack of experience, I could easily figure out that you need to add pressure over time. I'm honestly not sure why people who make maps on a regular basis have a hard time figuring that out. Even if it's as simple as an anticreep emitter that buys you enough time to prepare in the early game but gets completely overwhelmed on its own once the main wave of creep hits.
I think the sniper shot the one egg all the others were attached to and it all went tits up
@tannermattingly44623 жыл бұрын
This was honestly an incredible mission, because it managed to avoid the usual "blob across the map with anticreep with minimal resistance." Eggzilla was a real force of nature that required you to think on your feet and make tough decisions, and just when things started to seem under control it exploded into a cataclysmic event, forcing a final relocation to desperately survive. I want to see more of these kinds of maps!

"iv never seen this happen with eggs before" for refrence, i think one of the story maps (or a span experiment) uses the same idea they connect 5 eggs together, and launch the clusters at you rather than 1 at a time this connected 5 HUNDRED together and did the game, which is the literal maximum amount of eggs that can be on a map i sure HOPE toms never seen this happen before

This video was literally just Murphy's law. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Try to establish a foothold? Some eggs pop and you start dying. Built a giant wall to keep the eggs out? They jump over it. Have a massive force that is slowly picking off the eggs? The force holding them together ceases to function and they fall like rain, only to immediately pop.
