If you've watched my video of Angron and Lorgar, this is the direct follow up to the previous passage in Betrayer! Performing Angron is easily the most fun I have with the primarchs. This is the first time I've voiced Russ more extensively, and the Russo/Viking accent is perhaps a little too heavy on the Russian, but I struggle with the Scandi intonation. If you enjoyed listening as much as I did performing, give the video a like to help the channel!

You have done really well despite this, listening to your narration of this and the previous video between Angron and Lorgar, brought me back to those feelings i had when i first read betrayer, the mixture of anger at there betrayal during the shadow crusade, coming to understanding the complexity of there respective situations. Well done, i look forward to hear more from you, Sir!!!

I've got a lot of sympathy for angron. His life was hell from the outset, the eldar attack, being enslaved, the butcher's nails. Furthermore the one time he could have died the way he wanted emps stole that from him. It would've been a mercy kill to finish him

I never bought into the theory or russ holding back when 1 v 1 with angron here. He hoped to beat angron in single combat but was beaten himself, while knowing that his legion would be his contingency plan, whereas the world eaters wouldn't be the same for their primarch. I would have loved to see angron and russ face each other again during the heresy, before or after angron's ascension
@TheBigRedOneSA199011 ай бұрын
I think Russ over reached, i dont think Russ intended to kill Angron but he didnt hold back against him, in his arrogance he thought he could either censure or more likely intimidate Angron into listening, problem is Angron is the wrong primarch to approach in such an adversarial manner and In single combat Angron was simple better, Russ was beaten here. I do believe they planned the encirclement of Angron from the beginning and if it had gone to the bloody end i can see the World Eaters coming out on top, but Angron would be dead. Angron to his credit probably knew this, but he didnt care.
@yerauldda695511 ай бұрын
@TheBigRedOneSA1990 I disagree slightly in that I think russ had the plan of his legionaries cutting off and circling angron as a back up to him being unable to beat angron 1 v 1 rather than that being the original plan; but I think you're right in angron just not caring about the prospect of dying against russ and the wolves. He pretty much wanted to die throughout all the years since the emperor took him against his will from nuceria
@winterwolfcr711 ай бұрын
I disagree. I don't think it was like a hard holding back. But there is a big difference between wanting to beat someone and trying to kill them. Russ was there to make a point that Angron just couldn't understand. While Angron was trying to kill his brother or die trying. I think the fight between the brothers would have gone differently if Russ had actually wanted to kill Angron. We haven't seen enough to know who would have actually won in that fight though. I personally think a Russ intending to kill could take Angron, but I am a little bias there.
@yerauldda695511 ай бұрын
@winterwolfcr7 but then you could say that if russ had been holding back against angron, a primarch who would have been only too happy to fight and kill one of the brothers he didn't like, then he had lost the 1 v 1 before weapons had even been drawn. Imo russ' ego would've stopped him from doing that. He wouldn't want to have knowingly gone into a fight against a primarch as notoriously mentally unstable as angron knowing he was going to get battered in front of his own sons, just to teach a lesson that he hadn't been tasked to do, having taken it upon himself to do. Had he been wanting to kill angron, though, I personally don't see it ending any differently. Angron was widely considered one of the best primarch combatants and, even though russ was the self styled executioner, I don't see him being able to beat angron 1 v 1 in a fight to the death
@ETuss71311 ай бұрын
Russ hesitated when he could've killed an ascended Horus. The Lion and Russ battled toe to toe and only when Russ realized the stupidity of it and laughed did it end. Thats the same Lion the beat an ascended Angron. When Russ was out for blood he shattered Magnus. A very powerful Magnus. Russ was holding back. He was steadfast loyal to the Emporer and his orders. Angron was going all out while Russ was not.
@thatotherguy81384 ай бұрын
Russ had no idea what he was doing. He knew nothing of Angron, nothing of the World Eaters, and simply assumed that Angron was like every other Primarch. Even the Traitors felt a close bond to their Astartes, Russ assumed Angron was the same. This is where he realized how wrong he was, and had no way to process it. His whole plan hinged on Angron actually caring about his Sons, caring for their safety and well being - which nothing (literally, perhaps) in Angron's history with the Imperium would have given ANY indication that Angron cared one whit about his Sons. Part of me wonders if Angron held back a bit too, in the hopes that Russ would kill him. After all, if Russ died... who would be left on this planet who could give Angron the death in battle he craved?

Because they craved his affection and he hated them for it. They where nothing to Angron and the fact they wanted to be something to him sickened him, he saw it as a weakness. He never wanted a legion, he wanted his compatriots of Nuceria; instead he got eager lap dogs.
