When I got married 29 years ago we opened a joined account with my wife. She'd ask me if I'm ok with her buying some stuff to which I'd say "sure babe". And she'd be like "I don't know, it's too much, it's our money, I don't want to spend it unnecessarily". We both worked and contributed. And we're still together.
@Barrythebarnabas5 ай бұрын
Problem is these days some women feel entitled to *your* bank account and a joint account while keeping their own private account. They want you to contribute all your hard earned money while they spend it. You got good one, unfortunately the number of average ass women that are basically gold diggers is increasing.
@justinwebb015 ай бұрын
Good for you. I wouldn’t recommend this for most people, though. When my ex-wife first left my house, she drained the account to pay for her new lodging… In this day and age, a man needs to control his account. Maybe have a shared account too but keep the account that receives the paycheck private.

I am a frugal wife. We bought our first home at 25. And I can stretch a dollar soooooo far it squeals. And my family never felt a thing. And every year at Christmas, my husband is astounded by the extra money set aside. Oh, and absolutely, NO CREDIT CARD DEBT! It gives me hives!
@keinlieb38185 ай бұрын
I asked my wife if she wanted a joint account and she said no. I make all the money in our house. She has her account and I have mine. She has set a budget for herself every month and I put that money into her account every month and it pays all the bills, groceries, etc. Everything in my account is to save or if I have something personal I want to buy for myself (ie new tires for my vehicle, new video game, materials to repair the house, etc). It works out great for us. My wife is just the type that she is shy to ask for money. About a week ago I noticed my wife had a sore back (she's pregnant) and I asked her why she didn't get a maternity pillow. She said they are too expensive. I had to pretty much beg her to get her a maternity pillow that was $20... she refused to let me get her the more expensive one. I'd definitely consider myself to be solid middle class and we always have left over money that we save at the end of the month, but she refuses to let me spend more than $20 on a maternity pillow. Next month I get a $400 a month raise... she's getting a very nice maternity pillow next month. She can bead at me if she wants to be mad at me.
