Georgian protesters rallied on May 28 as lawmakers voted to override the president's veto of a bill affecting the work of foreign-backed NGOs. Protesters said they hope pressure from the West will force lawmakers to change course, as the EU and United States renewed their warnings to Tbilisi.

Were these not the slogans of Ukraine, relying on the West? How about some geopolitical realism, for the time being? 500 000 Ukrainians are dead, and Russia is not going away. Does Georgia have a plan? Slogans are not enough.

There are 150 MPs. A super majority is 100. You seriously think that 100 of 150 MPs cannot legitimately represent the will of the Georgian people?

Georgian Dream party tries to cement its position to be so strong that elections can no longer destroy its hegemony on Georgian political culture. Ruling party has media control, institutional control etc in the country. They make these laws to hold on to their power position like Fidesz in Hungary.

This issue is a testimony to American Imperial mindset. We have the same law, but others shouldn't dare to pass it and obstruct our God given right to meddle in your internal affairs disguised NGO propaganda and aggressive use of sanctions.

America should give up that law as well. It was made in the 1930s when they had legitimate reasons to fear Nazi and communist intervention inside their country. In modern world, such law is useless and overtly restrictive and does not correspond to American emphasis on freedom.

What’s the alternative? Being the footstool for ruSSia? The EU helps and protects. What many don’t know is that EU membership includes a military protection component. Article 42, paragraph 7 of the EU membership treaty makes it mandatory to provide military aid.
