I think a world war 2 game would be the perfect opportunity for Battlefield to get back to focusing on just true solid gunplay. I mean okay, a lot of people don't want a WW2 game, but a lot of people do. They could even make a side game separately from the main game, like they did with battlefield hardline. They could even make a game in which you play many wars from ww2 up until maybe the first gulf war or something, it would mean there would be lots of different weapons and plenty of variety in general.

BF4 is built that new players cud get in to series/game more easily but it fucked up a bit. because of this change there is many players that r using COD like strategies( or lack of them) and play styles, this leads to the fact that using BF strategies while there is bunch of weapons that gives other players ability to just run to your sniper nest and hipfire your ass and keep going. this was not rly possible in BFBC2 or BF3 . to be fare BF4 is not bad game but its not as good as BF3 and BFBC2 it had bad launch and it has some problems with weapon balance but u can haw a good time with it(i cant).

When it was released, it was super good game. But today i don`t like to play it anymore, desturction is just too much as it ruins the maps, without prone feature there is nowhere to take cover. And weapon recoil system is awful, Battlefield 3 has best recoil system i have seen yet (it is annoying that some weapon stats are quite gamey, but anyway). Also i would like to see a little more weapon and customization, and class balance was in many ways bad. But like i said, when it came out it was the best shooter on the market.

TheRomanRuler Depends on the server ticket count, with standard ticket count on any map the cover stays on long enough, and even then a skilled player does not need the cover option. Even with high ticket servers there is enough cover usually to go around and get dat win. Safe for perhaps valparaiso base 2.. if the enemy has a decent chopper ur fucked. On the other hand confident unrestricted distruction on most buildings made it a solid reliable mechanic, just like reload canceling, kit switching, weapon switching bunny hopping etc. That all seems pretty ridiculous for a 'realistic' shooter, but as a spinoff it was just perfect. The blend of good sp, overall wackyness, idiots and toxic players reminds me of mw2 and it really makes this spinoffs something different and memorable. A good example is how well it aged compared to mw2 or 3 even. About recoil 'system' its hard to compare, bfbc2 was imo easy to learn hard to master, most guns did not have the kind of random spread and horizontal recoil bf3 and 4 had. I like my shooter to have the least rng possible and thats sortof wat bfbc2 delivers with burstfire being extremely effective at range if your aim is good. The biggest difference probably is the time to kill with bfbc2 having a much lower ttk, its very clear on the f2000 in bc2 being an 8 shot and in bf3, a 4 shot kill up close to down a target. Bfbc2 accuracy system with a bf3 damage model would be infuriatingly easy, but it isnt. Time to kill balances it out and sort of prevents wat seems like 1 shot deaths. costumization was limited but thats not really a curse, it allowed for clearer balance, aside from the m60 prepatch there is no clear OP weapon. The less attachments present, the less DIce needs to tweak the balance, the more they can give guns unique stats without breaking the game. Hence the f2000 has a special damage and acuracy model, or the aek which does not have damage dropoff (balanced by lower damage) and has bonkers iron sights like the mg36 has a unique scope. The class balance is actually something i sorely missed in bf3. Recon had the c4 that was quite throwable, with the right technique it had a lot of reach, assualt could use c4 aswell if you took anything but an ar, making them both not useless vs vehicles. Spotter balls, mortar strike and epic guns. Recons were fucking dangerous. Assualts had epic allround guns but did not come with the arguably best kit in the game instead they get ammo. Medic has it together with an lmg, perhaps assualt carries the ammo bcs the lmg is already heavy enough? Now you might think engies are left out but Smgs were actually quite powerfull, underestimating an ump even at range can cost you. Add to that a selection of 3 distinct launchers that are effective against infantery aswell and play a big role bcs of the destruction. The graphics style was fucking engaging, yes the red hat wearing russian medic 'milosh' and moustached american medic 'steve the butt pirate' looked a bit silly, but it all added up to this memorable, recognisable and stylized graphical style that will age better year for year than the newer titles. Add to that the am-a-zing voice chats 'do you like me now bitch?' actual russian that makes sense and epic sound design. Based on real life but enhanced. vietnam dlccccccc Lastly the maps blow bf4 away and bf3 mostly too, aside from the spawncamping i have very minor gripes. Bfbc2 had its focus on rush and deliveed very well, but maps were plenty and varied enough to support the other gamemodes equally enough. Sorry if i got carreid away, i just needed to vent my love for this game somewhere lol, maybe this can act as some support to his claim, and sorry if some grammar does not make sense, it aint my native language.

Atleast it still feels as a a battlefield game. For someone who started from BF 1942, while playing this game, you still feel like "Hey, I'm home". While in BF3 and onwards.. Not so much.. And wtf is Hardline. How is it even a BF game.

Oh man. I'm watching this now in 2023 after hearing they are killing the servers for this game, BC1, and BF 1943. If anything, I hope they bring all the maps back to the portal mode.... we need a Bad Company 3!!!

For some reason, the weapons just felt more aggressive and the gun sounds were more awesome in this game than what it has been in Battlefield 3. I literally shot extra shots at times just because of enjoying the sounds and the feeling of the guns in Bad Company 2. I wish that they make the guns more like the ones in the Bad Company games in future Battlefield releases.

Yeah, Arma 2 has some definite mechanical issues I should have mentioned, but if you really appreciate the sim aspect of it , most players ill play it on low settings. I personally think Dayz alone is a great reason to buy it, especially if you caught one of steam's many sales (the Arma packs are constantly on sale). There is a Dayz standalone coming later on, but you will have to pay for it. It looks promising, though.

There may have been a time when multiplayer was , like you said , an "extra" , but that time has long gone. With it's DLC these days you'll find multiplayer commands more attention and is a way more popular game option. IMHO , with its predictability and limited replay value, it's the singleplayer that should be classed as the "extra".
