well honestly that might be true but why tf would u want to tip so much money for a meal? They're getting paid already and tipping should be just a bonus if they did extra work. Being a good server is part of their job and customers shouldn't be forced to give them more than they're actually earning just for bringing food. smh

Tyler Paik Because a lot of waiters live of the tips.. Their payment is often not even minimum wage, the tips make it up. it’s a motivation for the waiter to work better and it makes the prices cheaper, so you don’t really „loose“ money...

So bad that one famous restaurant had to ban him because his abuse went above and beyond normal abuse from some famous rich people. Then he had the nerve to call back to apologize when the owner went public & banned him--James you should have apologized before you were banned and he went public. Doesn't mean much now.

I agree it is basically highway robbery a $300 bill and they still can't pay their waiters a full wage seriously. Their either overpaying their chefs or just plan greedy. We don't do Tipping here except for a few odd places might have a tip jar. But with the prices we pay you shouldn't have to pay anymore and the employee should be getting a decent wage. Here waiters get something like 20 + dollars an hour just depends on where you work. If its fast food under $20 kids get $10 + per hour.

Tipping sounds troublesome and unfair. In Singapore, we usually have a flat rate. For most things, we have the Goods and Services Tax of 7% of the total bill, to pay for its existence. For restaurants where waiters serve you, they generally charge a service charge of around 10%. So whether you hate your waiter or love him, you pay the same.

@@xriot1752 I think people are required to do their jobs right. In Europe we tip if we think the waiter deserves it, but it's not mandatory. Tipping should be a discretionary thing not a compulsory thing. Also, how could it be based on the value of the bill? If I ate 1 plate of food, 1 costing 100 and the other 50, why should the tip be more despite the waitor doing the same amount of work?

Is the waiter going and refilling your drinks? Is the waiter taking your order? Is your waiter making sure everything is okay? Is your waiter making sure the kitchen got your order correct? Is the waiter running back and forth grabbing you whatever you need? Is the waiter cleaning up after you after you leave? That's why you should! If you can't afford to tip then stay at home and eat whatever you feel like cooking.

The tipping issue really does need to be addressed at some point. There are so many issues wrong with it. They can't keep using this "we have to live on these" social shaming excuses. Their salary is their employers responsibility. A tip or gratuity as it used to be known was a little discretionary bonus given by the customer for exceptional service NOT their basic salary. Plus why does it make sense that the tip has to be a percentage of the sale price ? If I ordered a 5 grand bottle of wine it still only has one cork in it. It just makes the whole experience awkward. Honestly speaking - slating a customer for not paying a high enough tip is just disgusting. Go and lobby your employer who's direct responsibility it is to pay your salary.

And stand on the table of; You do a good job because your parting with a piece of your life. √Having a sense of honor in doing a job well done is a tip in it's self. You like going to sleep with yourself at night when YOU know you did a good job. --Not only that, when you do a good job for the sake having integrity and representing you and your ancestors well. You can't escape tips...life will tip you in new job opportunities, skills, relationships, connections etc. --Not to mention what if a patron is having a hard time financially and doesn't have all the extra money to make it rain of random strangers. ...Or what if the patron is mathematically challenged.... Not everyone wants to go to math class just to sit down and have a meal. --When you look at it, even those who don't tip, or don't tip well are still patronizing the store that provides an opportunity for a pay check.....so it doesn't seem appropriate to emotionally extort tips out of people just because they want to purchase something.
