Last song at around 7:40. Capo 2nd Fret. Em, D, C are the overall chords he's playing for starters. Super fun progression when paired with these words I'll admit. Learned it right away and can see myself adding words to it eventually. Anyways, for all the musicians out there, enjoy!.

@@JohnnyNickor2 He plays the c right after the D chord like how I have it typed out. The C chord can be played a bunch of ways ( which I'm sure he mixes it up literally whenever he plays lol).I tend to mix in the 2 finger c chord where you leave off your pointer finger so the C becomes a cmaj7. Em, D, Em sounds like it works but But if you listen closely you can hear the distinct change in tone from all 3 chords, Especially when he does c for two counts then goes back to em to start the next verse. So in terms of timing of let's say 1,2,3,4.. it'd be Em, D, C ,C then repeat. He plays the c for two counts if that makes sense.

@@JohnnyNickor2 For example pretty much right where I linked at 7:41 he's playing the C. You then hear him go back up to the Em to start the verse, then D, back to the C for two counts. You should hear 3 distinct chords basically.

@@owb1464 Thank you so much for taking the time to respond in such detail, transcribing chords by ear is still something I need to work on; I find melodies way easier. So basically it's a 2 bars intro of C, then Em-D-C-C (relative to capo) repeated throughout the song; now that I pay more attention, knowing the structure, it makes sense and I can better hear the changes. I guess my main doubt was regarding things like: If instead of 2 bars of C I go back to D it still sounds very nice with the melody, maybe because it shares more chord tones (or so it seemed to me). For example at the phrase "the waves get loud" on "loud" we should stay on C for another bar, but D also sounded great; and I found it a bit confusing. Thanks again!

@@JohnnyNickor2 Yeah you pretty much got it spot on actually with how they do share tones between chords. C and Em sound similar to the untrained ear due to both chords using the D string for the E note within the chord, along with the rest gives them a very similar sound when played in succession. But you seem to have a decent grasp of the concept already. My main advice is literally to keep it up bro. I still can't read sheet music 8 years in, and I wasn't formally trained, self taught all the way through but I've played long enough to just know how to play alot of different songs due to muscle memory and experience. So forgive my half baked explanations lol. But yeah in all honesty, you can essentially mix it up however you please, as long as the overall melody is still there. That's the beauty of music, we all can interpret how we choose and essentially make it into our own that way.
