Sam. The Doppler effect is used extensively in radar. The Doppler radar is the standard, if you like, type of radar. And it works exactly how you described. You shoot a frequency at a “target” it bounces back to the receiver that measures any frequency shift to determine whether the target is heading towards, or away from you, and at what speed. I watched a video of Elon Musks rocket the other day, the one where he caught the first stage back in the gantry. And if you listen to the initial part of the flight you can hear the rocket accelerate away from you, because of the Doppler effect. Coincidentally I told my brother about this yesterday when I shared him the video and explained the theory of the Doppler effect to him, in this instance, and here you are talking about it today. I’m an ex-radar tech (Army) in a past life in case you were wondering. 😁

When you pr engine(s) are running, each one has an alternator running that charges the start batteries. Usually here is a cigarette lighter or 12 volt supply somewhere from them that can be used to charge your phone, using same charger you would use in a car. You don’t need 240 volt.

Thanks for the video series sam and sue, it's been extremely enjoyable. Would recommend you check out the Bluetti portable battery stations as they will provide you with 240v power and also the ability to run 12V items as well, ie phone chargers, and tvs etc. You can also recharge the battery station via solar or 240V mains power. I use one for caravanning and they are a very useful item of kit. Safe travels guys

Sam If your boat is set up well you do not need 240v from the inverter to charge your phone. You only need the 12v DC circuit!

Nothing like experience to help you learn The main/s (two cats, now that you understand two cats means two engines) should ALWAYS be set up to power EVERYTHING, and your generators are back-up to the main/s If you lose one or both main, your auxillary (generator/s) will get you home If it's NOT set up like this you are vulnerable to 'Worse things happen at sea' All boats vary but professional fishing boats MUST conform to AMSA standards (Australia-wide) Of course ANGST is NOT a professional fishing boat (not even amateur, proven 😂)(save a coral trout for me when I visit Yarra Edge Marina) 👋🥱☘️🇵🇭 See ya cocky!
