Dude, all your videos are lit AF, but PLEASE turn your volume up! It's really quiet compared all the rest of the videos on youtube. Usually, Id just crank the volume up, but sometimes I study on my laptop without an external speaker, and they only get so loud. Also, thanks again for your wonderful videos

Where did the 1/3 come from when you were calculating the inertia?
@thenewstyle87046 жыл бұрын
It comes from an integral. Just know that it applies to a rod

When calculatng the inertial 0f the level its 1/3mr^2
@Zombiecure135 жыл бұрын
Well the center of Inertia for a rod 1/12mL^2 . Using the parallel axis theorem...you will end up getting 1/3mL^2. My professor only gives us the center of mass for Inertia so we are expected to derive a new formula for the moment of Inertia using the parallel axis theorem when there is a new axis of rotation.

depends on what inertia youre calculating. The moment of inertia is different for a sphere than it is for a disc, etc.

could you please help me with this problem? Two small 0.85-kg masses are attached to opposite ends of a very lightweight rigid rod 0.7 m long. The system is spinning in a horizontal plane around a vertical axis perpendicular to the rod located halfway between the masses. Each mass is moving in a circle of radius 0.35 m at a speed of 0.80 m/s. What is the total angular momentum of this system?

Karen P because it’s not perpendicular to the angular momentum. If a record is playing on a turn table and I put my finger on it, it’s not going to create torque is it?
