Hi Pete, Just my two penny worth. I bought an ANI R160 on your recommendation and I absolutely love it. A brilliant gun, easy to use and clean and great results, I use it as my dedicated base gun and it lays it down super flat. It might be that the cheapo gauge I use is under-reading, but I use it at 3.0 to 3.25 bar and typically about 2 to 2.5 turns out. A very happy sprayer methinks.... I've relegated my FLG5 to painting primer, with a 1.8 cap & needle. It's an okay gun but not as good as the ANI. Finally, my comment on reliability. So far in about 8 months of use I've had absolutely no issues with the ANI. Good videos as usual - thank you for your efforts. Cheers J

He Pete. I bought a 1.2 r160 based on your recommendation and I am very happy with it! planning on getting a f160 in 1.3 for metallic base and clear and a 1.7 for 2k epoxy primer soon :) thank you for your detailed and honest reviews they are a big help for us who are new at spraying. Kind regards Mads

Hi Mads, Good to hear you're happy with the ANI R160. They are a good little gun. I really like the F160, I have it in 1.3, 1.9, and 2.5, so I'm sure you will find it good as well, thanks for the kind words, mate. They are much appreciated 👍

Hi Peter, Thank you very much for your hard work in making your videos. I am a big fan of yours and find your no-nonsense, first-hand-experience information very helpful. Having watched the video, I am wondering if reducing the fan of the ANI Compact would have solved the issue of it being "drier" compared to the one of F160? It does look a tad top and bottom heavy if that makes sense, or was it the effect of higher pressure? Thank you once again and best wishes! Andriy
@peteshobbies53836 күн бұрын
Hi Andriy, The Compact just doesn't flow as much material as the full-size gun, so turning the fan is, while making the pattern wetter doesn't really speed it up. The Compact is a good gun , but it's not a full-size gun in a small frame. It's a mini with a bigger tip, cheers buddy, and much appreciated as always 👍

I appreciate your coverage as always. I bought an R150 hps in 2017 and I had to spray Jambs wherever I could, even next to other cars. I once based out an engine bay at 10 psi probably questionably lower. A good finish was not expected of me in this situation and it still looked good! My only question for you, have you seen these lower grade full size ANI guns?? The prices I’m seeing are insanely low.
@kr25135 күн бұрын
I just found an august 9th 2020 video of yours. I believe that’s the one I’m seeing. Would that really cheap primer gun last in your opinion?
@peteshobbies53835 күн бұрын
Hi buddy, they are definitely not as good as the more expensive ANI guns. The savings are made on the tip and air cap, which has the biggest effect on performance. For high build primer, they are ok, as you sand afterward but not for thinner wet on wet type primer sealer

Hi Pete, a good comparison between the two ANI guns mate I often think these guns (the complete range) get overlooked or are underrated as they put out a really good finish for the price you pay, some people (me included) are put off when they don't get a good finish from the compact and the R160 or R150 not knowing that they need a higher pressure to get a good finish from them, I had the same issue until you told me they need quite a high pressure to get the most out of them🤔 That R160 compact has a huge fan considering the size of the gun but as you said a big fan doesn't mean a faster gun which you proved with the F160👌you mentioned the FLG5 which are good gums for the price as well but I haven't used mine for ages I often forget to get them off the rack, I'll have to dig them out again🤔😁 Very enjoyable video and well made as well, cheers Pete👍

Hi John, Thanks, mate , I will have to send you the F160 some time to try, for the money it's quite good, although, as I said in the video, it's not as clear cut for me these days with gun's like the Porphis PC415 only a little more money and better on all counts, cheers mate, hope you're enjoying the weather, I saw a cloud here earlier today 👍 😀
@JohnWD40TC024 күн бұрын
Thanks Pete it would be nice to try the F160 as I can't decide if I want one, as you said the Porphis guns are good value for money throughout their entire range👌 I really feel sorry for you over there having to cope with all that nice weather it must be hard to cope with just wearing a t-shirt and shorts everyday but never mind it will soon be over so I bet you cant wait😬I've been struggling to get my booth over 18C during last week🥶😂cheers mate👍

@peteshobbies53835 күн бұрын
Hi Mate, These are all the same guns just under different names. They are made by Rongpeng in China, so the R500, A610 (Now), YT160, and the like are the same

The only issue I’ve had with ani is the regulator leaking air brand new, but I already have to many regulators😂 on a side note I attempted to swap air cap collars on my carbonio and my alluminio but you have to pull the air cap gasket so I stopped. Sounds like a job for you Pete 🤣 it’s only 800$ for the alluminio 🤣 good video as always🤘

Hi Pete, nice video again, and thanks. I'm very confused about a gun to buy for clear coat. Was sold a 16cfm compressor a few years ago and now find out from the same company it is not, so i have what i believe is a 290 fad. Would love a 4600 extreme, but that's not going to happen with this compressor. Bought a drizzle for it low air consumption and low overspray, but it feels like crap as you could imagine, but it is cheap, so on me. I would love you to do a gun review for us on low consumption low overspray best results. At this point, im not even fazed about the price. Just want it to work and buy it once. What i have seen on garage noise is that the drizzle is a good all-rounder. It could be ok as a base gun, im hoping. Please help with the dilemma. Cheers Pete
@peteshobbies53832 күн бұрын
Hi Paul, The Drizzle is just a R610, YT160 type gun made by Rongpeng in China, there's loads of different names and all the same. They are ok but nothing special, what do you want to do, whole resprays , just a few panels?
@paulnewton943Күн бұрын
All of the above, really. I will try the drizzle and go from there and keep on the hunt for a large compressor and build on that first. By then, the new 4600 will be out for a while and all the likes and dislikes . Thanks, Pete. I have just watched your latest on the Y 160. Thanks Pete
@peteshobbies5383Күн бұрын
Hi Paul, certainly a bigger compressor is the way to start, at least then you are less limited to the guns you can go for, low pressure, lower overspray guns don't always mean low air consumption, cheers mate, thanks for watching the videos 👍

Thanks Pete. I have the ANI mini gun. It's nice to use but as you say the material doesn't go down very quickly. Can I ask an unrelated question please. What clear coat would you recommend for a full respray in my garage? (so no booth, obvs) I've used Kapci epoxy and high build for that stage of the project, which have been brilliant, so I guess sticking with Kapci would be ideal. Is there a Kapci HS clear that you think is well suited to that kind of thing? If not Kapci, what else? Any thoughts would be gladly received.
@peteshobbies53836 күн бұрын
Hu Mate, the Kapci 6030 is a very good clear and not expensive, make sure you get the extra fast hardener though, as the fast takes ages to go off if it cooler

Good video no difference for me in the final comparison. Will you maybe make a video of you blasting the ani f160 with 50 psi ?
@peteshobbies53836 күн бұрын
Hi Buddy, At 50 psi it would over atomise the clear coat, so it would start to look dry, works with the R160 but not the F160, Cheers buddy 👍

Hi mate i know it's kinda of topic from the vid but could you recommend a spray gun for around £50ish. My compressor is Parkerbrand 13.8 CFM, 3.0 HP, 50L, probably not actually 14 CFM. And i'll be spraying metallic paint if thats any help cheers :)

Hi Matt, one of the things I said in this video was that people will often ask this question, but they don't say what they want to paint, how much are you aiming to do at once? I'm presuming it's automotive related? Let me know and I'll suggest something , Cheers 👌
@mattyboy02935 күн бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 Hi thanks for the reply, Yeah it's automotive and it's not the whole car biggest part would be some rear quater wide arches for a bmw and maybe a bonnet. it's also a metallic paint if thats any help appreciate you for helping :)

@mattyboy0293 Hi again Matt, you should be fine with something like the Ntools 4000B on Aliexpress, I've done a few reviews of it. It uses a little more air than you have but because your not doing a whole car at once, what you have will be fine, use a diaphragm regulator as this will help as you're tank gets lower, cheers ✌️
@mattyboy02935 күн бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 You're the 1st person to actually help me out so i really appreciate that. I had a few choices in mind it was between The FastMover, A610 or 4000B, I'll go for your choice. i'll be my 1st time painting with a spraygun so lets hope it goes well haha, Cheers 👍

You're be fine, it's all a learning curve, the more you do the easier it will be, so practice on something that doesn't matter to get an idea of the way the gun works with your materials, cheers Matt 👍

Pete, why do you put your clear coat in the microwave, I haven't seen this before. Would you recommend it? Yes, of course, I'm pulling your leg.
