A loan is an asset for a bank since it produces income for bank. A non performing asset, (NPA) is a loan which has ceased to generate any income for the bank. When the interest or the Principal amount is not paid back for more than a period of 90 days, the loan is said to be a NPA. NPAs are a burden for the banks. Priority sectors are those sectors which are of utmost importance and require specialised attention and lending. These sectors are identified by the Government. There are total 8 priority sectors identified by the government. Education, agriculture, renewable energy, housing sector, export credit, MSME, Startups, Social Infrastructure. Sir, NPA is a case which arises when an asset of a bank stops earning any interest for the bank. The loan that banks extend, becomes NPA when 3 successive instalments are due. Priority sector is a group of 7 sectors where banks and financial service providers(NBFCs or MFIs) are directed to lend on preference basis, at target of 40% of ANBC for Public and Private Banks and 75% of ANBC for SFBs and RRBs. These include Agriculture, Housing, Renewable Energy, Export, Education, Social Infrastructure, and M&SEs. Primary Function of Bank includes, taking the public money as deposit and lending as loan for various developmental purposes. Ancillary business include, fund transfer, payment instrument service like debit card, cheques and credit card, locker facility, payment and pension providing for employees and pensioners, third party selling of mutual funds and insurance, etc.

Sir good evening Sir, NPA stands for non performing assets. As its name mention, it has no active use for banks. if in any loan account there is no sign of repayment for a max of 90 days then the account is declared NPA account. It has many adverse impacts on banks as banks had to written off the amount. Although in case of agriculture loan the time period of an amount being NPA is varied. Priority sector lending- As per the RBI guidelines, commercial bank has to disburse a certain percentage of their ANBC (min40%) to the 8 priority sectors such as agri, education, msme, housing, social infrasturcture and others so that the development of the economy can be assured. Function of banks: banks mainly do two types of function primary and secondary Primary function refers giving loans ,accepting deposits etc Secondary function includes locker facility, loc , Lou, BG ,credit card debit card issuance, MF etc Thank you sir how is my answers..please let me know if anything is to be corrected

NPA- Full form: Non-Performing Assets. When any borrower fail to repay their installments of loan then after 90 days of failure it declare as NPA. Priority Sector: Priority sectors includes rural and agriculture sector, small and marginal farmers or businesses. We include these sectors in priority sectors because commercial bank's main motive is profit earning and they give loans to big businesses or salaried persons....so through this they enhance their profit. But in this these priority sectors are left some where because they not take loan easily. Hence, for providing loan or other financial services to these sectors we banks or government created this sector. So now, commercial banks also give loan to these sectors because RBI make this compulsory to some percentage. And many other initiatives also are running to finance these sectors such as NABARD, Regional Rural Banks, SIDBI and many more. Functions of bank: Take deposit, giving loan, fixed deposit, Insurance services, Investments. Nowadays, digital services, Internet banking, digi locker, financial advice.
