Stop complaining about Conan not listening. David came to the show to raise awareness about these animals, Conan let him show up, which makes David raise a point to those who watch the show, and creates entertainment at the same time. It's not like he came there to explain stuff to Conan, and it would simultaneously be a lot less fun if all they did was sit down and let David talk. It's a win win situation, awareness and entertainment.

I hate how Conan keeps interrupting David when he talks about how endangered some of these species are, when that's supposed to be the whole point of bringing animals in the first place - raising awareness, not just getting laughs and "awww"s.

I agree. I do wish he wouldn't interrupt so often. There have been occasions during the animal segments where I really would have loved to hear the end of David's explanation or what sounded like the beginning to an interesting story regarding the animal. But at the same time, you do have to understand that they ARE doing completely different things. David is raising awareness but Conan is getting views and interest. His show is not really the best venue for serious, frank talks about animal endangerment and many people prefer Conan's approach rather than the aforementioned. For the people who prefer information sprinkled with amusement, it is making it easier to swallow and keeping interest where it would otherwise be ignored. Hence why David probably puts up with Conan's bad habits on air. In other words, their relationship is very give and take.

As much as I enjoy seeing Conan interact with all these animals (because he pretty much is the only talk show host who actually LIKES animals, it seems), I always get vaguely annoyed when the handler tries to tell the audience about the threats these critters face and what we can do to protect them only for Conan to interrupt him with a joke he's already told in 1997

As an audience member, I feel uncomfortable whenever Conan cuts poor David with an unnecessary joke. Half the time you can tell Conan isn't even really listening to the guy cause he'll ask the question David just answered 2 seconds ago. Even in this video, when David is talking about habitat destruction which is a serious issue that needs our attention, Conan pretty much ignores him and cracks joke about how he feeds his kids in the same way.

I have ADHD and I'd probably be the same way as Conan on stage, he's a good listener usually but when there's suddenly rare wild animals in front of you, I can see he really hyperfocuses on the animals and it's really hard to listen to people when worrying about being bitten, make sure the audience is safe, or just lost in the beauty of a creature. Conan is human let him be himself, people can always google about the animals!
