But to be honest, I feel the character's level of "scary" was exaggerated quite a bit! If anything, J is the one you should watch out for because he has all this anger and has been made to be cold by his circumstance and almost sociopath like that he just doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. That's scary!

This American show is a pussies version of Animal Kingdom! In reality these Australian brothers were bloody brutal! Look up Kath Pettingill & her son's Dennis Allen, Victor Pierce & Trevor Pettingill! They were responsible for the shooting of 2 20 year old police constables in the Walsh Street murders in Victoria

I realize this maybe a little premature but Animal Kingdom is without a doubt one of the best TV shows of all time. The writing and acting is intense, it draws you in leaving you wanting more and it's one of those show's were you root for the bad guys. So glad this show ended up on TNT and not one of the other big 4 as they would have cancelled it after the first season to make room for more of their stupid ass fluffy "reality" or singing/ dancing crap. Good to see Shawn/Pope in this light, laughing and cutting up, I was beginning to wonder if he was love me Pope in real life because he plays that part so well like he doesn't have to act so hard to make the character believable. GREAT SHOW and GREAT ACTING guys!!!!!!

Jake Weary/Daren is probably my favorite character in the entire series. His arc to me is the most well defined, basically you have this guy who truly is a Mama's boy. A criminal. And someone who has historically tortured himself every single day just for being a way that he isn't sure if he can accept himself to be, especially given the macho world he finds himself trapped in. And yet, in spite of that his brother Craig KNOWS and even calls him out for it like "Come on man you're embarrassing yourself, we wouldn't care if you like guys but you have to stop this charade" and it was in that moment he finally began to accept who he was. Nowadays he's more than comfortable with it and like real people he's nicer as a result. You will never be happy until you can give yourself permission to be yourself and that involves accepting who you are.

The actor that plays the part of Pope - I really could not stand him (so great performance) until he started to go to church and was so touched by his heart.
