My dad passed away on December 2 23, and a movie released on December 1st became special to me. Even before the movie, its song was out, and I played it on repeat during his 1.5 months in the hospital. I still listen to it, and it feels like a masterpiece, especially when I'm driving-it brings back the warmth of my father. Ranvijay's character in the movie feels like it reflects my own life. I'm sorry, Dad, for not telling you how much I love you. The pain in Ranvijay's eyes, especially in the last scene where he can't cry in front of his father, is so relatable. I wish I had been stronger to hug you tight and let you know how much I love you during your last days.

Papa toh superhero hote he hai. But kabhi socha nahi tha ke as a girl myself I could also connect with this movie’s characters so well. Genders replace ho gaye hai bas. Yahan instead of father I always longed for my Mother’s validation, her true love, ke woh bhi mere pyaar ko samjh ke mereko unconditionally pyaar karti, accept karti. But just like Anil Kapoor’s character in the film, meri Maa bhi mere pyaar aur mereko samjhe bina hi last month iss duniya se ekdum suddenly chali gayi. Shayad cardiac arrest yaa unki lambi diabetes ki wajah se. Film mein Ranbir Kapoor ke character Ranvijay ko toh phir bhi last mein uske papa se ek aakhribaar closure karne ka chance naseeb hota hai, jahan uska baap apni galti maan ke Ranvijay ke pyaar ko samjh ke usse maafi bhi maangta but main toh apni Maa ko unke jaane se pehle nahi bata saki ke unse kari saari ladaiyaa, shiqayatein sirf isliye thi kyunki just like Ranvijay maine bhi bachpan se lekar hamesha mummy se deewano ki tarah pyaar kara tha but woh equally mere pyaar ko reciprocate nahi kar paayi. I was not good enough for her but my mummy was my God. Parents kyun nahi samjh paate ke chahe unke bacche unki superficial saamaajik expectations naa bhi poori kar sake but unse itna zyada aur sacha pyaar karte hai ke unke liye khushi khushi apni jaan bhi dede. “I love you, mummy.
