It looks like you leave your backpack outside of your tent at night. Is that correct? Doesn't the backpack have the scent of your food too?

After you remove all smellables from your pack it's better to unbuckle and open everything. The number one concern is mice and other rodents. They will chew through your pack to investigate which causes a lot of damage. If you leave it open they won't destroy anything. I watched a bear stick his head in my open pack and after he found nothing he walked away. Had it been closed up he would have shredded it. I often use my pack as padding for my feet because I use a short sleeping pad. The guy who got his face licked by a bear was because the bear was after the salt on his face from sweating. Wash up before bed and this won't happen. I learned the hard way.

That sounds like it would be an experience honestly, with the bear

do you ever worry about and getting ants inside the tent?? and how would I prevent that without knowing what's under all those leaves before I set up my tent ??
@dprfail
@dprfail 2 жыл бұрын
before you pick up a leaf, speak in a loud voice "is there anybody under there?" if you get no reply, proceed to pick up the leaf disclaimer: sometimes silence is a ploy for you to pick up the leaf then attack you so just be careful and rely on your gut instinct if it's too silent, it's probably a trap so just move away from the leaf don't take any risk and move onto another leaf

Very good video! if I didn't watch this video I would have cooked and eaten by my tent...then I would have a bear licking my lips in the morning.😄

Kinda gross but... when we camp in "bear country" we do our urinating all around camp. It's the same thing animals do... mark their territory. We go on bushes, trees rocks and we do it all around our site. Most larger animals will not come closer because of the markings.

Doesn't sound that gross, since you're going to do your business outside no matter what. Does this really work? Does it keep bears away too? That's one of my biggest fears is a bear being attracted to our camp site.
