I started grinning as soon as I began watching this video. What a wonderful treat for the residents (and staff!)

It’s just amazing the almost instant change you can see in these elderly people, how bright their eyes light up, some of them suddenly stand better or move better. And Wellington seems so content. He’s such a gentle baby 💕

He is doing something there I saw once before. He knows he is big. And he knows the residents are very fragile. So he hardly moves when they are touching him. He is being so careful not to harm them accidentally. What a special boy he is! The once before was with my English bulldog Sassy when she was about two years old. She still was puppy like in her energy and was always running around, looking around, and wiggling if she had to stay in one spot. I was walking her on a leash in a small town, turned a corner to be go to my car, and instantly we were in the middle of a huge family with possibly four generations. The baby was in a stroller, and in the middle of the group was an extremely fragile old woman, who obviously was the heart of the family. I froze, Sassy was already at her feet. Sassy froze (God bless her!!) and my heart was afraid to beat. Everyone leaned over - starting with the matriarch, to pet Sassy. She did not move. The family moved on around us, we stayed put and waited for them to safely navigate through. Then she whirled in place, wiggling all over and looked at me with her tail in overdrive. Neither of these animals did this accidentally, both knew they were a danger to their visitor, and made a lot of effort to keep that visitor safe.

What a handsome boy he is!!! Very sweet too! Drafts are awesome. They are absolutely wonderful animals. Wellington is a very handsome horse. They can sense human emotions well and they can read us like a book. They know what our intentions are even before WE do sometimes. I'm so glad the residents get to meet him. And I think Wellington enjoys the attention too! LOL!

There's a sense to this. Herd animals must be attuned to the emotions and thoughts of others in their herd for the benefit of all. This translates to humans as well. So some horses are particularly well tuned in to humans, and some humans are well tuned in to horses as well. The rapport that develops in some cases is magical.
