The thing about Pinnipeds like seals and walruses is that they not only have a great sense of direction, but they are very stubborn. If Freya was captured and relocated, she would have just found her way back.... so catch and relocate wasn't an option

Yeah, it’s a situation where the more I think about it, the more difficult it becomes because… yeah, there was just no feasible way to properly transport her to safety. She made a wrong turn and was now hardwired into staying in that location. It just sucks that it had to end that way for her, and that people just couldn’t respect the local mandate to leave her alone.

Also, some of them are way faster than people think. Sure, a walrus is getting nowhere fast, but the eared seals are literally built to be functional on land. So a 2000 lb Steller's sea lion can hit 16 mph. The same top speed as an average human. And their speed was measured on beach sand instead of a track. So you can unironically get ran down by a seal.

We've gotta start holding people more accountable than animals. Are we not the more intelligent species? I'm starting to wonder if that's actually the case.

It's a all "aww" and "it's so cute" and the funnies, till them otters wreck you. Yes they're cute. Yes they're funny. BUT these things can murk gators and jags...let that brew in your mind for a moment. They're vicious when they want to be and can "Game Over" screen a full grown person 😨

Hum, seems that humans are the problem. Animals that even give us the time of day seem to just wanna hang out, watch the atmosphere, be friends/insert themselves in the "flock", and get some free food. But there's always a group of humans that will take to knee-jerk mistreatment once they need some entertainment or get bored of the animal...and that's where it all goes downhill.
