To add to what Harry said about humans being faster at marathons, humans have the best endurance out of almost every land animal, because animals run on all fours their rib cage prevents them from breathing between strides. Their is a whole ass hunting method used way back when called endurance hunting and its literally hunters who chase a deer until it collapses from exhaustion, and then spear it on the ground. Because we stand upright we can constantly breath while running making us able to run nearly non-stop

Some horse info for you: that's why cowboys had spurs (the lil metal saws at the end of their boots), when the horse gets tired or slows down they would use spurs to 'encourage' the horse to keep going... Like no animal could just sprint non-stop and most long long journeys were done in walk, or with two horses and a cart. After spending time with horses I noticed how TV does not represent them well... And also no, KSI cannot knock out a horse ;)

5:40 so basically I've just researched and it turns out there was a competition like that. In 1980, some man in Wales decided to do a 35,5km race between a man and a horse. Sure enough, horses were winning until 2004, where a man named Huw Lobb finally beat a horse. It actually turns out that on a long distance *and in hard conditions, like tough terrain* a human can infact beat a horse in a race. But we still need to take into the consideration that the track was really tough, so humans could have a advantage.

5:08 we've actually got the greatest stamina of any animal on land, we sweat whilst they over heat, it's just we see these animals running 30mph plus and never dream that we are better runners than these creatures, and a lot of us myself included are overweight and out of shape because of a sedetary lifestyle, horses help because they are so powerful we can beat a horse in a marathon but we can't tow 1000's of lbs for any meaningful distance, or run at a top speed of 40mph

Well that is a bit of an exaggeration, humans have great stamina for sure but are not the best on land in all conditions. We could not outlast sled dogs in the artic or camels in the desert for example.

@@maddybell6150 Indeed but the camel's natural habitat is the desert so that same claim could be applied to them. Also humans have certain advantages like being able to carry water bottles and things like that. I am not disputing that humans are among the best endurance runners in the animal kingdom, but to outright say they are the best is not entirely correct.

@@WilliamAngell96 camels are just op they're lake drainers, and can gallop 40mph on sand and sled dogs are only that good because we made them to be, there used to be wooly camels in the northern hemisphere with the same water retention capabilities, which we helped to extinct
