ANIMALS & THEIR PEOPLE - CHARACTER DESIGN!

I'm back! I wasn't able to post during the week because I've had a couple of new year medical tests being done that were a bit more abrasive then I had original expected. But all is well! and I'm excited to get back into drawing!
I had so much fun with this one! Diving back into character design with both humans and animals! I wanted to try and make the people look like animals as well as try and make the animals look like their people. I want to do this again already. ahh! SO many animals I could do! I'd appreciate suggestions of what you might like to see!

something that helps when drawing younger kids/babies: the facial features are set low, usually there's little to no chin/jawline lol since they're still so round and have baby fat + it communicates more that your character is very young in art shape language. The forehead is huge so when you're trying to figure out the nose and mouth - which only need a slight indication as they have no defined form yet so no need to make them the prominent features - place the eyes low on the face. It makes figuring the rest out much easier.

A tortoise 🐢 has feets and walks on land, turtles have flippers for swimming in the sea. Amazing art as always tho Rin. Happy New Year!

Not necessarily true. There are "land" turtles, and they are different from tortoises. Tortoises are usually bigger, and have bigger, more domed shells. They also spend most of their time on land. "Land" turtles spend a lot of their time in water, and come onto land to bask occasionally. Sea turtles, the ones with flippers, are a different animal.

@@Me-xo5tw All tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises. Land turtles are semiaquatic to some extent, with some spending more time on land than others. Tortoises can't really even swim, so there's definitely a difference.

Rin's relentless optimism is such a vital part of what makes these videos so encouraging and enjoyable -- she could've gone "ugh, I fixed one problem to end up with three more!" but instead said that while she found a new problem, she resolved her old one. NEVER CHANGE, RIN!! Such a beautiful and inspiring example for young girls. Just felt the need to tell you that :D

Would’ve been so cool if the flamingo’s wings were spread out behind them! Like a Ta-dah moment :D also I think a darker skin tone would have worked better for some contrast there but overall loving the ideas and how expressive the drawings are! I would love to see a sloth next or a lizard? I can imagine like a sleezy con artist with a patterned leather suit lol

Heyy, the first video of 2022 on your channel! I really love how the clothes of the tortoise guy has many pockets to make it look similar to the tortoise’s shell pattern. Maybe I’ll also try it out with other animals. The designs were really good by the way!

This just makes me want to learn how to draw animals more but I struggle so hard lol! Rabbits, Cats, Dogs are some of my favourites :0 but also maybe something kinda more out there that you don't see like... sheep, goats, cows - barnyard. or maybe even foxes and other woodland creatures would be cool :0 Or Ocean animals so you could do like an ocean theme... (blubfish included XD) Maybe even some animals that arent around anymore or something like that could also be cool :)

I would honestly like to see movie with these characters! Here's my pitch: Turtle man and turtle have been together all their lives. When turtle man was a little kid, he adopted him from the store, him nor his parents knew how long Turtles could live, so they didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Long story short, they're the closest of pals. They're both a duo that LOVES adventure, and seeing the world. No matter where they go, they go together. One day, Turtle man gets a call from his sister asking if he could start baby sitting his niece as she started ballet classes near his apartment. His words kind of get twisted but he ends up agreeing. Then, the day his niece arrives, he's surprised when she has a flamingo escort. Now the two of them have to get to know each other, turtle man and flamingo girl are very different so they have to bond and such. Just as they start to get along, Turtle man's land lord finds out about the flamingo and demands it's rehomed or he will evict turtle man. It was a stretch having a turtle, but a flamingo? The girl insists they protest but more people find out and soon the news is even covering the topic. Turtle man and flamingo girl get into a huge fight and she tries to run away. it all spirals and such until they find out they could get arrested. The flamingo gets injured in all the chaos and they have to bring it to an animal hospital. In the end, turtle man even creates an animal sanctuary where so many exotic animals live. They all went on happily. The end :) Sorry for lack of detail but that's my pitch. Disney, call me pls.
