Southeast Asian here! I believe the pouring drinks into plastic bags thing is done so that the glass bottles never leave the shop making them easier to collect/recycle afterwards. Also it's more practical if the shop has a 1 gallon drink, they can sell it in smaller amounts. Hope this makes sense. Also I know it's late but thought I might share for those who are curious.
@lanzsibelius2 жыл бұрын
Drinks in plastic bags though somewhat rare is in fact a thing here in México too, but most of the time you see this when people prepare a big container of flavored water so you don't really have a bottle to begin with. And of course they always use clean new bags and close them with a knot so that the liquid doesn't spil, you can only sip it out through the straw
@ELEMENTOR3742 жыл бұрын

I used to live in the Philippines and they do it there probably to lower production cost. You can still but a bottle but that’s gonna be more expensive than just going for the bag which is also used for street vendpr drinks like Gulaman. Fun fact of the week: Pre-civilization humans practiced something called endurance hunting, where they literally just jogged after animals until they fell over from sheer exhaustion. It requires moderate speed, high endurance, and a high degree of cooperation, prevent the prey from just cutting a diagonal to get away. There's only one other mammal known to practice endurance hunting, that being wolves, and even they only do it when other options are exhausted; turns out bipedalism is pretty useful for endurance running. (This may have something to do with why humans and wolves partnered up so early on; dogs are the first animals we ever domesticated.) In other words, while a deer could probably take you in the straightaway, running you down on the long run is probably the one thing you _don't_ have to worry about with a deer. Hopefully this helps Connor's elaphophobia. (Oh, but a charging whitetail buck could absolutely f you up. And they're big enough to destroy your car if you hit one, which is a real problem in the northeastern US.) And yes, this does mean humans are the slasher movie villains of the animal kingdom.

He's even forgetting that people outrun deer in the end. The original hunting method employed by humans was: run after it until it's either overheated or exhausted. Their knowledge of UK weather is also deeply unsettling. The south is easier, sure. Go further north and you have more violent storms (this year alone had 8 in 3 weeks, causing more than 2 million trees to be ripped from the ground. Some places still look like a graveyard for trees), snowstorms/blizzards, bush fires (albeit small), tornados, waterspouts and severe flooding. Earthquakes do happen, but are not destructive since they're only 2.0-3.5 scales generally. It's just the UK is built well to withstand these. Instead of wooden houses, it's stone houses clustered together to stop the houses being blown away/into bits every year. Flood damage is in the billions of pounds per year, trillions if they're unlucky, but everyone knows the protocols for them, and can rebuild quite quickly. It's not that nothing happens, it's just they've adapted to most of it and know how to handle it. They just don't get the worst of the worst natural disasters like Japan. You also pray that this century does not contain a storm surge. Every few centuries it strikes, the last one being in the 1600's, and took a chunk out of Denmark and Netherlands. The most notable one disconnected Great Britain (the island) from the mainland, erasing Doggerland almost completely (think Jersey and Guernsey were part of the highest points), and creating the English Channel.

@ANPC-pi9vu2 жыл бұрын
@@aoifemcneill3714 Yeah, but you just stay inside during bad storms, no big deal. I think you aren't realizing how much more severe the things you mention are in other countries. Water spouts aren't flattening whole towns. Trees getting knocked down by storms is pretty normal, as root systems for most species are very shallow. If the tree is rooted in soft marshy boggy soil, or on relatively smooth volcanic stone with only a thin layer of top soil, it won't have much to hold it upright during a storm.

The one about the bread and freezing it: a lot of people that I know in the Netherlands freezes it. It can quickly get moldy, and that’s a waste. It’s not wether you eat it quickly or not. I can’t really explain it properly though…. To give a scenario: when I used to live with my parents, my mother always put the bread in the freezer cause she told me it will quickly get moldy if you just leave it out. I always thought that was weird cause I always saw on tv and cartoons people just having those bread boxes on their kitchen counters and it being fine. Now that I live on my own I tried doing the thing of leaving the bread out of the freezer cause it would be quicker if I need to go to work. Let me tell you I quickly changed my ways 😂. For context, as someone who has grown up around Moose, Moose usually are at least 6 feet in height, and weigh at bare minimum 1200 lbs of all muscle. Not to mention that they can be extremely aggressive especially during mating season or if they are protecting their young. The only animal that scares me more are Hippos. Also my answer to who I pick in a battle royale. Hippos are mistakenly deemed fat. Couldn't be further from the truth. Hippos have a ridiculous amount of muscle. What we see as their "fat" is actually just 6 cm of skin. They are also extremely aggressive, can run through packs of lions without taking much damage, and are surprisingly fast. The bears around here are black bears, and while I’ll fully admit they will screw you up, I’d take my chances with the bear. Black bears are basically very big raccoons. Like The Smiling Man, or maybe just that one creep that you think will shank you in your sleep 50 years later because you bump into them once in highschool, and they whisper to you while you gasp your last breath, how everything bad that has happened through out your life are actually their doing, pulling the strings from the shadow.

20:43 Apparently, eucalyptus trees are nature's gas canisters. They produce litter around the tree that's high in volatile oils, and is naturally resistant to breakdown by fungi to spark natural wildfires to help spread more trees -- which is badass. So now my question is: Are there flammable dropbears?

Didn't california fires in 2017(18)? start because of eucaliptus? I heard that fires got big because the trees didn't have natural counters like coalas and other animals eating the leaves? Might be misremembering things

"You don't freeze the bread!" Yes you do, if it's commercially sold and pre-sliced in bags! If you buy it from a bakery it's a different story entirely
@ggundercover36812 жыл бұрын
that's cool and all but I don't care, I'm not freezing no bread. what I don't understand is why not just keep it in the fridge. especially if you're buying store bread and not bakery fresh bread. heck I make my own bread and I leave it out for like 2 days and then put it in the fridge. and I hate toast, or at least using the toaster, I put butter and pan fry for. my toast (and I rarely eat toast). the only way I see this being appropriate is if you really barely eat bread and like toast. but I feel most people here saying this eat bread regularly or quick enough where putting it in the fridge is good. or am I just not getting full context? I am so confused on this.
@loweseat63402 жыл бұрын
@@ggundercover3681 I don't think it's "inappropriate" to freeze bread regardless of how much you eat of it on a regular basis, it's just a different method to store it for longer than it would keep if it was sitting out on the counter. I personally don't eat enough bread at once for there to be any other option that works without forcing me to throw out bad bread.
@HOVNA2 жыл бұрын
@@ggundercover3681 Because the bread loses nothing by being frozen and chilling it in the fridge is almost pointless in comparison. You are still going to reheat it, now it just slowly dries and still spoils after a while anyways.

Southeast Asian here that used to run a small store. Not sure if it's the same for other countries but we use plastic bags specifically made for soda. It's just the right size to put one bottle's worth of soda in it. And the reason why we put it in plastic bags is because we send the bottles back to the manufacturers so that it can be refilled. Else it would wind up in the junkyard.

The thing about Polar Bear is that it rarely saw human, that's why it's very cautious and ran away instead of attacking when you shout at it. But it's not gonna work multiple times.

Also, as Polar bears are going more extinct from less icy locations, they're starting to mate with brown bears and make the most powerful bears. Btw, brown bears are more worse than black bears. Black bears you can easily yell at and they'll dip. (Unless mother bear with cubs, always run)

Best way to survive bears: don't keep food on you, you should talk/play music/make noise as you're hiking (bears will avoid confrontation so if they hear you coming, they'll just move somewhere else. Most times you won't even notice that they were there), and bear spray can be effective if you use it correctly. They say that you should try to scare away black bears and play dead with grizzlies and most times that's solid advice but you should play it by ear. Bears can have very differing personalities so you can't just treat them all the same. Like if you see a black bear with cubs, probably not smart to act confrontational and scary. But prevention is probably the best way

the reason of the plastic bag in softdrinks in the Philippines (Not sure if this is also the mechanic from other Southeast Asian Countries) is because those Glass bottles are technically owned by the softdrink companies and you are only buying the Liquid you could still drink from the bottle but you must return the bottle to the stand (or you could pay extra to own the bottle)... those glass bottles will then be reused by the company (of course sanitize)...also plastic bags are cheaper compared to plastic cups
@arcoirisaycaramba28572 жыл бұрын
Probably also uses less plastic than a plastic cup. It may have not been the environmental motivation first, but less plastic = less cost.
