@ Jashly Jash - You'll have to upgrade to PowerPoint 2013 to use this option. Else, this option is available in image editing software or graphic design software.

Even if I use shape subtract option in 2010 version, I cannot the select the individual pieces of shapes for animation and form separate layers.? The entire shape moves together. Any help on that?

PowerPoint 2010 and 2013 provide the fragment option. In 2007 version, you would need to Paste the diagram back as a PNG image and then crop it.

Hi I am trying to created an Animated Pyramid on Power Point Mac 2011 and got stuck at the the Format Cutting Stage. The Icon Merge Shapes is not available. Please suggest and alternate way forward

S Menon In PowerPoint 2011 for Mac the options are not available in the ribbon. To view the Combine commands ( combine, unite, intersect, or subtract) select two or more shapes. Then right-click (or Ctrl-click) the selection for the menu. In the menu that pops up, select the Grouping option and go to the sub-menu to find these 4 options.

This is how create a triangle partitioned by lines. Do you know the difference between a pyramid and a triangle? Did you hear about 3-D? We need to have 3-D object to be able to give info along the other dimensions but none of Office programs can do it.

You have to click on the corners of the shape, and not hold click to drag.

No fragment tool in 2010

True- there is no Fragment tool in PowerPoint 2010. The Fragment option is nothing but multiple shape subtracts being executed at the same time. In 2010, you'd need to set up the Shape Subtract option in Quick Access Toolbar ( tutorial available in our channel) and then use the subtract option multiple times to get the result you want.
