Kiana knew about the Herrscher of Void. She knew about the destruction she nearly caused, and she knew she could cause it again if she were to lose control. She went to Arc City to escape, to protect all her friends from a new catastrophy, not to save the city. She didn't knew about the place, she didn't knew anyone. She spent her days roaming the street, homeless, hungry, alone, chased by honkai beasts. Destruction followed her and would hurt civilians. She contemplated suicide, hoping her death would put an end to the circle of violence. Then she learned about the bomb. About the consequences for Arc City as a whole if it were to detonate. She knew the honkai energy irradiating from the bomb would cause her awakening, trigger the very thing she had beeing attempting to escape. It could kill her, it could kill everyone she knew. But she was the only one with a small chance to prevent the catastrophy. So she went in anyway. To save a city she had no connection with. Just because she had a chance to make things better. She went in knowing fully the risks and the consequences of her actions. She was terrified, but she went in anyway. Kiana is a fucking hero.

I'm not undermining Kiana's character development, but your story telling make it seem like she was lonely throughout this chapter. Fu hua really helped her push through and helped her keep Sirin submerged and not take over of her again.

@@juzyx At this state there's no point to bring her back. 1. She'd still die from the artificial stigmata implanted within her. 2. Overusage of honkai energy destroying her. In the Final Lesson CG, you could see purple lines appearing on Himeko. Which means a lot of Honkai energy was used. Her body might just vanish after falling.

Unpopular opinion here, but I prefer Dian Tao as Kiana over Rie Kugimiya. Like I LOVE Rie in almost all her roles, except Kiana. Just compare the delivery of how Kiana reacts to Himeko's Himeko's appearance in this short. The Chinese version just has so much more solemn emotion, while in the JP dub she just sounds kinda surprised? I just think Kiana's JP voice really doesn't suit her character, especially with her current characterization.

I start playing this game seriously because of this cutscene and yesterday at 17 January 2021 I finally get through this chapter and cutscene. The goosebump is real and it's awesome to see Kiana finally able to use full Hersccher mode. Honkai Impact 3rd is really something when it comes to story base game. I'm not sure if Genshin Impact can do the same considering they both have different type of cutscene.. HK3 cutscene is base on CGI (3d + 2d) which makes the animation looks great and feels like Anime while Genshin Impact animation is full 3D graphic and Animation.

When the somber music starts showing the city without power, I imagine life support being completely destroyed and that humanity is doomed, hearing and seeing many people tear up knowing their time has come, when the music starts picking up on the rhythm a spark happens on the cables, the people look at it, more and more sparks appear everywhere and they can only look at them. Until when the music reaches its peek the entire city just blooms back to life, at that point you can hear them cheering in tears and loud to their savior(Kiana)

Main story part 1 hits so much harder than main story part 1.5 and main story part 2. The whole "shadows born from fear" thing doesn't give me the feels main story part 1 gave and still gives me, and main story part 1.5 was a slog to go though. But I went through anyways. Neither part of main story has given me the emotional attachment main story part 1 has. main story part 1 made me emotionally attached to Himeko, who before "Final Lesson", I felt nothing for. Just like I feel nothing for Final Fantasy characters. 1.5 nor part 2, had scenes like this one from part 1. I'm not saying "bring Kiana back!", I know she can't come back for story lore reasons of Finality, but I deeply miss scenes like these to make me care about the characters. Please MiHoYo/Hoyoverse, if by some miracle you listen to my pleas, I need my emotional trauma and fully animated anime-style cutscenes in Part 2. Not the 'in world" acted cutscenes that Genshin uses. I care as little about Part 2's characters as I do for Genshin Impact characters. An entire game where I don't care who lives or dies. Genshin is boring to me, and main story part 2 makes me lack a feeling of anything. Heck, main story part 1 made me cry in compassion for the horrible person that is Otto Apocalypse. THAT'S how drastic the quality has changed. Is this because Shaoji was moved to Honkai Star Rail story writing? Don't get me wrong, I won't fully quit on HI3rd like I did to Genshin from nothing but boredom (fyi, if Genshin purists are reading this comment, I played through Genshin till somewhere in the Sumeru arc, Inazuma didn't make me quit Genshin, and I gave Genshin a second chance, it still was too boring in writing to keep me playing) HI3rd with all the emotions and suffering it made me feel in Part 1, will forever be my favorite gatcha game, I just miss the quality part 1 had compared to part 1.5 and part 2 combined. We don't have any more in HI3rd pre-rendered animated cutscenes like this, nor have music, to give me the emotional suffering I crave as a HI3rd Captain. If you want me to actively play this game still, I need the same painful "magic" part 1 had that made me fall in love with this game. Of course, you don't HAVE to, but I haven't felt this with HI3rd new content since before the Project Stigma arc (I think). A good written story requires to have struggles with the characters, to keep the story from getting bland and boring as humans, we are drawn to pain. A well written villain, needs be felt to those experiencing the story, like a living human being, and not feel like merely a character created solely to be the villain. That is why I got so attached to Otto and cried in empathy for his pains and suffering, even though I do not forgive his evil actions. As much as I love Sirin (don't take that the wrong way), Otto is the best written villain in gaming period, in my opinion. Sirin only made me cry after finishing reading "Second Eruption", when I knew full-well beforehand what was her fate because I played the game first before the manga. As it stands currently, I'm burnt out on gatcha games. I'll return to these Hoyo gatcha games (excluding Genshin, I quit that forever because the story was too boring) someday. But till then, I can only feel for these scenes from main story part 1. Part 2 has nothing on part 1 compared with quality differences. If Part 2 cannot make me cry with empathy/compassion, it doesn't rival part 1 in quality at all. This isn't me being blinded by nostalgia, Part 2 has none of these impactful scenes with music, to make me feel. Can we please have Shaoji go back to writing HI3rd main story? His writing is what gave me the emotional pain I love HI3rd part 1 for. (no sarcasm) I heard he was moved to go write Star Rail's story

Same. I stop playing fu hua 1.5 story, the chapter is too long, a single mission in that chapter is too long, too much dialogue, cutscene and wasting time walking around the map slowly. I miss the day when the mission are not too short and not too long. Less cutscene, less slow walking, less dialogue and straight to the point. I haven't play part 2 yet but i heard that one have even more dialogue and long story. Even Apho isnt this long. Because of this all i do is just farming stigmata because at lease those doesnt have too many dialogue, cutscene or walking around, just combat.

I still find this video sad - despite this hope-inspiring and beautiful animation. Like OK, she saved Arc City - she could continue her tale the way SHE wanted it. However, she was still bombarded by obscene amounts of Honkai Energy - to such an amount that she was getting zombified, and QUICK. Not to mention, turning into a Herrscher still requires a lot of Energy, right? And she did it in a flash. So no wonder Lament of the Fallen happened. She was doing the right thing - and I commend her for doing so. However, in this short she's still too reckless, putting aside the circumstances of her decision. I don't think she even expected to live through this encounter in Arc City. Nevertheless, I'm proud of our precious Tuna. She's grown so much.

Hey everyone, remember when MiHoYo would make these anime-style cutscenes for HI3rd that played as you progressed through the story? I really miss that. I guess that's partly why Main Story Part 2 wasn't as impactful on me as Part 1 was. We had anime-style cutscenes that would give you strong feelings of emotion watching them, really being attached to the characters. They kinda stopped doing that for new story updates after Graduation Trip if I'm not mistaken. If Final Lesson made me care about Himeko and cry for her, while leaving me a feeling of grief and sadness for her long after finishing watching it, when prior I was indifferent to Himeko, I'm sure main story Part 2 could benefit from it greatly. Because Senadina and the others are relatively new characters, they haven't gotten anything like that to make me attached to characters and feel for them. I'm not saying they should kill off a character to make me feel, I'm saying, they should make and insert high quality cutscenes like with Main Story Part 1 that can make you feel strong emotions seeing what's happening and the characters. Aside from Helia and Coralie resembling familiar characters from Part 1 (Helia looking like Vill-V, and Coralie clearly being the "Bronya" of the group, if that makes sense), I don't feel much of anything with the main cast of Part 2. They need to tug at my heartstrings. HI3rd is my favorite Gatcha game because it can make me get emotional. As opposed to Genshin's almost, if not always, happy moments. You need pain and struggles to keep the story interesting, use the emotions of the players to keep them engaged. An always happy story gets dull after awhile. It's why I quit Genshin Impact, I was too bored of the story as far as Sumeru in the main story, that I couldn't make myself play it anymore, it was too boring, and too grindy for materials with materials being locked to specific days of the week. I wasn't having fun anymore. HI3rd on the other hand, at least Main Story Part 1, countless times, would make me cry with animated anime-style cutscenes. "Thus Spoke Apocalypse" made me attached to the main antagonist of a story arc, something I've never done before. I felt sad and attached to Otto, who was at fault for nearly everything that went bad in Part 1, up till his demise. Please HoYo, do the same as Part 1 for Part 2, by that I mean high quality cutscenes that makes me emotionally attached to the characters, wherever that character being good or evil. I'm falling abit out because Main Story Part 2 is not making the cutscenes interesting and engaging. It feels like a slog I must not skip. A slog like the Project Stigma/moon arc of Main Story Part 1. I'm not having fun with Part 2 anymore. Litost laying on the ground dying made me feel nothing for him. Yet I'm still feeling sad for Himeko even this long after I saw "Final Lesson" for the first time

Get an older phone that was a flagship that way you'll be sure it had a powerful GPU back when it launched, I'm using a one plus 5T it has a snapdragon 835 launched about 3 years ago i can play the game at the highest quality settings even with physics and anti aliasing enabled and get 60fps most of the time. In contrast if you get a newer mid-range phone the GPU on it might be completely useless

even better, when she's trying to extract the Honkai from the device, the corruption gets so bad that her hands turn purple and black, ever since this cutscene, she has worn gloves and once she becomes Herrscher of Finality, her hands are visible again, showing that the Honkai is quite literally at her fingertips. they played 4D chess with this foreshadowing.

Sold, Chinese is better. Apparently, japanese version is here so alot of weebs won't have to start complaining as to why it's only chinese. Being frank, it's here so that a lot of audiences mainly weebs who's too much into japanese even consider listening to this. Chinese version of this short is my preference and my opinion on being better. But it is also the fact that there's a lot, note; a lot, of weebs who can't stand listening to chinese because they have been too accustomed to the japanese language, high pitch kawaii english sht that they will dislike it even if a chinese dub has admittedly, have a better english pronunciation and more serious tone that fits the serious atmosphere like this one, so it's a win win because it'll pull more audience.
