[ANIMATIC] (Baldur's Gate 3) - Counterspell

This is perhaps the most fun I've ever had making an animatic. I can not express the love I have for this game, and I haven't even scratched the surface of all there is to do. Huge props to the team behind it. Ilyyyy
This animatic is my main Tav and her usual party. Roles are as such:
- Eradys (Tav): Seldarine Drow, Life Cleric of Eilistraee, mostly support and healing.
- Karlach: Zariel Tiefling, Berserker Barbarian, tank.
- Astarion, High Elf (def not vampire spawn what are you talking about), Assassin Rogue, big pp stealth damage.
- Gale, Human, Evocation Wizard, glass canon backline and counterspell master.
Eradys also romanced Gale, but that's not in the animatic unless you count the little hearts I drew in her eyes when she sees him (giggles and kicks my feet).

Sir, don't steal people's art if you don't want to get copyright strikes, not a hard concept. I would dare to suspect that real artists have the understanding to request permission or stick to using animations from official sources (ie the people who don't risk credit being taken from them by other people recycling their work). Furthermore, they would know better than to slander the person whose artwork they used in front of their audience/fans, and would instead apologize and try to make right by the misunderstanding.

Gale as never felt as much of a Chad as when he was counter spelling literally every single one of Lorroakan's spells and so he didn't get to do anything that whole combat but pathetically run around

My bard Tav also had Counterspell, so she and Gale were tag teaming Lorroakan. He never stood a chance. (I felt extra petty because that fight my first run was brutal).

I found some gloves that give people proficiency in swords and gave that to Gale immediately. Gave him a finesse weapon and Gale became several degrees more badass. I’m not a fan of his quarterstaff skills because you gain a chance of low rolling 0. That simply won’t do, I expect at least a range of 1-8. His dexterity is pretty good so he does nice damage and with special swords that have magical abilities he became a guy who when push came to shove saved my team with a well placed stab

My Bardin/Palard (cursed names, both of them XD 8 Bard, 4 Paladin) was typically the last one left because even though he had okay-ish dex, I got him the heavy armor feat so he had the highest AC of everyone. Almost nothing could touch him. Which was good, cause he also had shit for health XD even with the 4 levels of Paladin!

That's actually so true! I always multiclass him to a ranger so when he's not backstabbing people while hiding, he's attacking from heights or long distances. He almost always keeps his hp to at least half if not more while my poor barbarian Durge has been revived two or three times because she exclusively plays the bait in tough fights.

Well when I’ve been playing, I have Gale in pale blue dyed clothes, and the other 3 in the team in dyed black-red outfits, this is because Gale almost never gets blood in him, but the other 3 get covered in blood so the outfit colour kinda helps to hide it 😂 So cut scenes are funny with 3 characters covered in blood and Gale just looking pristine

When playing with my friends we only had to feed him twice in act I. The people who say he needs to be constantly fed have either never played the game or take long rest every 10 mins.

Gale was one of the most important team members; I only swapped him for some story beats with other characters and in Act 3 for old Aunt Jaheira dialogues and interactions. Probably the best friend of my paladin Tav. He even invited me and Shadowheart to be guest lecturers on his lessons in Waterdeep. How sweet that Tara allows him to do that! 😅 P.s: I can't believe that the game implies that in six months, our couple didn't visit any of our friends. Shame on you, Larian! We were busy, but too busy not to visit any of them!

Since spells have a verbal component, I like to think of counter spell as like you're closing their throat or lips, preventing them from saying the words. That's what's great about roleplaying games, even the spells you can imagine doing their own little things if you want to. I never even considered counter spell being used like in the video until today.

I always imagine my sorcerer Tav is struggle bussing and panicking to stop some of the more insane spells that head his friend's way. Mans used literally almost all of his spell slots keeping Astarion safe in the Cazador fight. On that note, I think Astarion had a reaction more akin to mine everytime it happened. I can straight up see the counterspell silencing the little bitch and Astarion looking him dead in the eyes and flipping him off, which would retroactively cause more deadly spells to be flung his way and even *more* panicking from my Tav. Poor little sorcerer needs a break, he's surrounded by instigators who constantly fuck around and almost find out. Also, honestly I cackle like a mad man whenever Gale's in the party with him and any enemy spellcasters just get absolutely obliterated with counterspell, it's just so satisfying in the most visceral way. I can't explain it. It brings out my inner chaos gremlin in the best way.

Great job on this, also same team. I like all of the companions but those three are my favourite to have around
