im interested in learning maya particularly for animation, do you think it would be wise to learn other things like modelling too?

It all depends on what you want to do/achieve. If it's to bring your own ideas to life then you'll have to become more of a generalist and learn a lot of stuff (modelling, sculpting, rigging, animation, surfacing, rendering). If you're looking to get into the animation industry then specializing in one particular thing (but knowing HOW to do the other things even if they're not your strength) would be more useful.

i seem to have everything just like you but my animation wont loop it looks great and all but it stops at frame 25 i set a key at frame at frame 25 and then copied and paste the first from to the 25, what am i missing ?

I think you just need to enable looping. In the bottom-right of Maya there's a button beside the "running man with a gear" icon, it looks like arrows surrounding a + symbol. Click that and it should loop.

How to add lips for dialogue in this kind of prop?? Do we have to break the vertex connection in the lip line to rig and animate it??

You'd have to go into the actual rig file, add geometry, and re-rig it. You'd likely find it easier to start from scratch.

Awesome tutorial! I have a question though, I tried to set my keyframes but when I playback my animation nothing moves, it just stays in the last position I set it in. Any idea why this is happening?

I'm using something called "Auto-Key" here. You may not have that on which means that you need to press 'S' every time you set a pose (otherwise it'll snap back to your previous pose). The "auto-key" toggle is in the lower-right corner of my screen, highlighted red, and kinda looks like the recycling logo.

@@3dcoach937 wow you rply fast, btw i got confused because I didn't see any skeleton joints in the video so I thought maybe there is another way to rig this. but ig it's done with same skeleton joint tool rigging.😁

@@rohantongria2427 There's a show menu at the top of the viewport that you can open and turn off visibility of joints. I always turn that off so I don't have more visual noise than I need while animating. Just me, a juicebox, and the control curves. The joints exist, they're just not visible.

You're right: If you don't have auto-keyframe on then you should create your pose and then hit 's' to Set a keyframe.
