I think it was just kinda to prove she knew how to manage dragons since she’d been living with them for so long. That’s just what I think though, would’ve been cool if Hiccup or someone would’ve learned it.

I never understood how Valka Incapacitated Toothless, and then it was never brought up again. We don’t know if it would have worked on other dragons, which would have been VERY useful to know with enemy dragons. 😐
@snickerdoodles52232 жыл бұрын
She’s self taught, mind that also she’s got the most experience out of any rider with dragons and second to Hiccup with dangerous species. As well, we see her do this, but in the finale of RTTE Krogan tries similar by going for the side of his neck behind one of the nubs. Given we see this with dragons in the first movie, such as Hiccup scratching Stormfly’s chin to make her fall, it’s likely these are either universal tips or that this was specific to Night Furies, explaining why the exact same wasn’t done to other dragons, and it’s possible since she’s clearly had experience with Night Furies given she taught Toothless how to open his dorsal spines. Also let’s be honest, even if you wanted to there’s no way you could try that on a dangerous dragon, especially if it’s a dangerous species like Scauldrons or under the command of enemies like Drago’s slaves; you’d be dead before you could attempt.
@ladycobra17732 жыл бұрын
@@snickerdoodles5223 She probably saw it work on other dragons hence why she tried it on toothless.
@snickerdoodles52232 жыл бұрын
@@ladycobra1773 I doubt it. As far as any displayed canonical documentation of dragons has shown, the only dragon to have dorsal plates similar to the night fury would probably be the sandbuster, not only was that created years after the movie, but realistically that’d be almost impossible to do. If there is story reasoning, more likely that not she’s managed to learn it by interacting with a nightfury during the 20 years before it’d have been hunted by Grimmel; which is plausible given that she can work out roughly Toothless’ age and health by inspecting certain parts of his head.

@@snickerdoodles5223 She didn't have experience with Night Furies. Toothless was the first she was able to get close to. She even outright states it. "I've never seen a Night Fury this close before!"

I agree, since trying to learn more basic 3D animation, I thought about how annoying/overwhelming it had to be to animate Toothless with his wings. (I imagine there are a lot of bones/joints that needed to be posed.) I guess they just kinda took 'em off until they needed them? Kinda neat.
