My guess the reason the souls are healing is during this fight is probably due to the small side of hope that sans has left or maybe it’s because sans is tired of us entirely and is wanting to inflict as much pain as possible but who knows only the creator

I believe that the souls HAVE to heal a certain amount and have a minimum amount of damage so in the flower fight they say “we have to heal” and heal all they can while doing minimal damage but in the sans fight they still have to heal a minimum amount. Sorry for my bad grammar

not to disappoint you but Ultra Sans is much stronger than VHS, VHS Sans's creator lamaboss confirmed that he is slightly stronger than last breath but weaker than dust sans, and i'm sure that Sans with 6 human souls combined is stronger than a a heavily buffed skeleton (dust sans) which is stronger than VHS. dont let the fandom make you think something is stronger than what it actually is.

I think the reason the soul is helping us through heals is that they really don't like being abused for these kinds of purposes, but I wouldn't think or question it because, in reality if you were the "player" in this situation you'd be thankful there is healing in the first place.

The Ultra-Sans animation by "A Huge Pancake" was how i discovered, and what made me get into Undertale, so its quite awesome seeing different versions of the fight. I don't know how you did the red SOUL animations, but it really looks like an actual player moving. Great animation!

I love how everyone's like _why are the souls helping?_ What if they just- didn't know? It's not like the souls can wander freely and see what frisk's doing. And besides, the only reason why they help you during omega flowey is because you ACTed and called out. I don't think they would've helped otherwise. An interesting take I saw was that the souls were tired of being abused for their power. That would make sense since the reason they were kept and used was for the purpose of destroying. Asgore was going to use the souls to become a god and wipe out humanity. Omega flowey used the souls to try and delete everything. Omega sans used all the souls' power to kill you. Why not make their last bits of sentience last? They weren't useful or had an existance afterward. Plus, the fight is really hard (and hella unfair- you see how little health you get compared to the attacks?) and depletes your health quickly. You can easily die to sans. Maybe they were also making it a fair battle. Y'all should just be thankful you're getting helped n healed 💀 (I understand the thought though so plz don't come after me for that last statement 🙏) Edit: (this is just a precaution) if anyone sees this, plz check the replies bc I don't want multiple ppl trying to counter-argue down there, ty T🙏T

The souls are conscious. They just have no way of expressing any thought without a host. But, with sans as host, they are able to have thought and such. Plus, sans would be able to likely communicate and convince them that Frisk is evil.

not gonna lie. that "interesting take" is pretty dumb look. if any of the humans got to Asgore before dyin they'd know what's up. but let's pretend the Humans all died before knowing what purpose they were killed for. Seeing how Sans pulled these Souls from somewhere after being slashed indicates that they were nearby during the fight. I dunno bout you but even if you're only HEARING the fight and not actually SEEING it (incases Sans kept them in his Pocket or whatever) they would still realise that if the Player got to the Surface everyone would probably die. And "making the fight fair"??? Even when fighting Omega Flowey the fight technically isn't exactly "fair". Omega Flowey is close to a god, having full control over the game, being able to save and load and all that stuff. The only reason you beat Omega Flowey is because the Souls see that Flowey is evil and rebell against him. The conclusion is: There's literally NO POINT in rebelling against Sans. If The Souls do rebell against him the entire Human Race would be in danger of getting massacred by whatever kind of insane being the Player has become.

Sans guessed that the humans souls gone wasted but instead they just somehow freed from his grasp. They were already flying around him out of his body and they wouldn't just end up wasted like that they could endure So much more to only partially go wasted. Or he accidentaly did something so weird and effective that deleted them but they still wouldn't get wasted like that for using still that level of power and the fact that they just freed themselves is a lot more likely to be the one.

Why would souls want to help a homicidal sociopath? They only help you against omega flowey because it was the right thing to do, and they were on your side. But in this version you would leave the underground and kill more what is in your way, there would be no reason for souls to want to go against the sans. His sprite in the middle was simply phenomenal beautiful, but I found the space under use.

My theory on why he souls heals and help frisk is that the souls help frisk because frisk is a human like them and they probably despite monsters since they got killed by asgore or others monsters and their souls was kept in a cage so maybe they didn't wanted to help sans but frisk the human (like omega flowey) so thats my theory no idea if someone made this theory too tho sorry if someone did it before me

for me i understand why the souls rebel not just sans wanting to probably end humanity or decided to become r@cist but because they are being used if they are only 6.(since asriel dremurr fight they didn't rebel or fight back) they also wanted freedom notice how perseverance keeps giving text like success but also freedom. sans killed asgore. the souls do not wanted to be used nor abused for power. also i'm pretty sure the consequences of using 6 souls is that there is a chance of them rebelling even in the aborted genocide run they still help you even if you spare like 1 monster. and even if they didn't help. i reckon frisk would have killed the souls. since the act button appeared in omega flowey fight what makes you think frisk wouldn't have found a fight button either. and you do not want that to happen. frisk can also come back as well.(even if sans refused that you can still edit the game for you to win and even omega flowey couldn't edit it.) so in the end. Sans was right he should have done nothing.
