Apology for not uploading for like such a long time, I've been super busy with school work, exams, projects, and even more. My teachers are graining me right now, and I'm sorry.

The reaction is divine, there are diologists and well-chosen videos for the reaction. I wanted to start a conversation about Mori (specifically about the last two videos, about Dazai), I'll say right away I'm neutral about Mori, but he holds the role of the villain well. I would like to say that Mori is not a pedophile, especially since he was not in any close contact with Dazai (yes, there were manipulations and injuries Ogai inflicted on him and left him, but he somehow did not touch Dazai, this was not even mentioned in the manga. Yes, Maury says that he likes girls less than 12 years old, but let's think logically, he only talked about this about Alice, he didn't talk about any other girl. And he never bothered Alice either, I agree he behaved like a child with her (he bought dresses and treated her to goodies), but he never bothered anyone, never. I agree he left a lot of injuries to Akiko and Dazai, he is a great villain, but even as a villain he helps an armed detective agency (although he could not do this) and protects his country.

I think the main reason that I suspect Mori to do those things to Dazai is not only his ability (him being able to make his sexual fantasy and it being a child) but because of the book that Dazai is based off of. There were lots of undertones of sexual abuse in there which makes a lot of fans believe that this happened to him. Also, buying goodies and dresses are parts of grooming if you didn't know. As a rape and sexual abuse survivor, i honestly would like this representation. Not every pedophile likes every child after all.

I completely agree with this, and the last panel was Mori being Dazai's doctor after Dazai attempted TW:Sui*ide where it is standard procedure to restrain the patient so they cannot hurt themselves. Unpopular opinion ahead, please don't hate!! I don't think that Dazai was "forced" by Mori to become who he was. The BSD Beast showed a scene with Mori talking about being unable to save a boy (that boy being Dazai) and wanting to be there for Atsushi or something. Making me think that Mori forced Dazai out of the mafia to try to help him (?) Not saying Mori didn't contribute with bringing Dazai into the mafia in the first place by offering him a TW:Su*icide pill, but yeah... (we dont actually know a lot of canon stuff about their relationship) I think that Dazai is the pure embodiment of having no moral's and only caring about what matters to him (which isnt alot). He only joined the ADA because that was Oda's dying wish (not because he regretted what he did in the mafia) and in BSD Beast (which is a alternate universe after he joined the ADA and got the book) he still ruins peoples lives to keep Oda happy despite being on the "good side" for years. Even before the BSD alternate timeline he does not regret what he did to Akutagawa and still uses him, etc. I love Dazai as character but I feel like some people turn him into JUST a traumatised person who does all the stuff he does because of Mori. And I feel like it completely diminishes his.... I'm not sure the word lol Anyway, I'm done now lol. sorry for this reply you probs did not want. I'm interested in anyone else's opinion if they want to share?

I understand that people dislike Mori since he's creepy ( personally i think his character is interesting ) but Dazai is much more complicated than being a innocent victim that was completely manipulated and abused by mori to do all the things he did.

OKAY let’s get into this, a lil explanation of why Dazai would react this way 1. He doesn’t know how to express his emotions and once he feels ANYTHING he shuts off. He learned to shut off completely his emotions and feelings because of his inner torment and because of his life at the mafia. Not to forget god knows what Mori did to him to build and create the PERFECT most emotionless and cruel successor for him but also stay a loyal dog and not kill him in his sleep (comes from a scene in the anime). Add the deaths that he’s been surrounded in and grew up in since his tender teen years AND he was a torture expert, the best and most fearsome torture expert…. He needs to be cold as freaking ice. 2. Dazai genuinely doesn’t believe himself to be human. And emotions, love, sadness, worry and care towards other people is, to him, merely characteristics of human beings. He thinks that he does not deserve this normal humanly things. And thus why he says for example that Chuuya is the most human he has ever encountered because Chuuya expresses himself fully (he does bottle up too ALOT and fears to show weakness because of all the betrayal he went through but atleast he’s more expressive in a way). The majority of the time Chuuya expresses most of his emotions through anger cause he found his comfort in it (just like Dazai found his « comfort » in numbness and internal void, as well as deflecting from the subjects through jokes). Dazai seeing Chuuya so kind, with a huge heart, full of emotional energy even if it’s mostly anger, seeing how easily Chuuya can express his likes and dislikes and how he generously is capable of giving and receiving love and care from others, makes him human in his eyes and thus making Dazai feel even less human. So he doesn’t bother to dwell more on it, and again just shuts off. He cares but doesn’t know how to express it. 3. Another thing (in my personal opinion) could add fuel, is Oda’s death. As Dazai already mentioned once « anything I wish for/touch is lost ». And thus I feel like he has built even more walls around him to protect himself from that agony he felt when he lost Oda. He doesn’t want to feel again and oof I understand him, it’s so fully human of him. 4. Putting aside his emotionally constipated arse (😂), I feel like another reason is him probably analysing the situation. We know that Dazai is a complex genius, he can plan things way in advance and can conclude the outcome of a situation way before. He’s probably thinking « oh is this part of my plan? And which plan? And against who? And why? » and he probably created this whole pseudo-theoretical-scene of what happened 5. ALOT of you have such low to NO faith in Soukoku (I don’t know if it’s because they’re not some people’s cup of tea or maybe it’s people that didn’t read Stormbringer or just weren’t able to understand Dazai and Chuuya as characters). It was stated multiples times in the manga, the light novel and ESPECIALLY from Asagiri HIMSELF, as well as bsd team and voice actors that Dazai and Chuuya are two pieces of one soul, they compliment and complete each other, that they predict and understand each others moves without talking, that with just one look or sign they can communicate. It wouldn’t be shocking to me if the whole drowning was just a set up to get Chuuya to snap the fuck out of that vampire situation and to fool Fyodor. And clearly Chuuya understood the assignment. We will get the confirmation in the next chapter for sure haha Anyways Damn I wrote a long ass comment welp, SORRY❤

I enjoyed this reaction very much. I do have one question. The one with Dazai strapped to a bed, do you actually know what happened or not? Because that was just the first time Dazai and Mori met after Dazai tried to commit, hence why he was strapped. So I didn't get what they meant by Sicko.
