Press E while in image editor, you should see a “curve” option, if that’s what you’re talking about.

I'm curious on how you can use Mark Sharp and the edges become sharp, without using the Edge Split modifier?

If you turn on "Auto smooth" in the geometry settings, you can manually mark sharp edges without needing to use edge split.

marking sharp also tells the normals generation, so it shades in a way that makes things look sharper

Creasing the edges of the mesh You can do so by using Shift+E when the edges are highlighted

@@hhone748 That's what happens if you apply subdivision modifier on a low poly curve circle. Shonzo base from what I saw from their videos uses three vertices as base which in turn looks like a triangle when creating a base for the hair strand, now if you add a subdivision modifier to a low end mesh it would look small, in order to fix it you use creases

It does that by itself if you have generate UV ticked off in the curve properties tab, but it should be on by default.
