Patar's last line, "Somewhere Not Here" is the name of the first episode of the series.

Glad you guys are enjoying this season of Vinland Saga. Always appreciate the observations made at the end, especially that Canute was able to employ Thors' philosophy as a King. Moving the hearts of other people will always be a more effective 'first method' than forcing compliance through violence, which should always be seen as a last resort. People may find the messaging in Vinland Saga to be naive, but it's completely believable that Thorfinn, knowing Canute's goals and character, correctly wagered that he could get through to him. In the same way, Thors was able to judge the character of Askeladd and rely on him to not harm Thorfinn and his people.

I think you guys have been real unfair to Olmar. He realized how pointless violence was in 1 year, it took Thorfinn 15. Calling him a coward because he didn't kill hundreds of people like Thorfinn did is kind of missing the point. It's like you're agreeing with the viking mentality and definition of what bravery is even though you're also agreeing with Thorfinn.

I do not understand the Olmar disrespect while also praising Thorfinn for doing the same thing, even when Thorfinn Praised him for doing what he couldnt in 15 years

Because Olmar did it out of cowardice. He was just afraid of pain, war, death, etc. While Thorfinn did this because he realized that war and death are bad stuff. He understood the very concept from within.

@@DreamWalkerVl You're right. Nevertheless, I think Olmar grew to view it from Thorfinn's perspective, and that's why he was so grateful with him at the end.

Admonish basically means like to scold or to criticize. Also after all this, you are still calling Olmar's decision to not fight a cowards one? Lmao cmon. Vinland teaches you that choosing not to fight is never a cowardly move. Its a courageous one, especially in an environment like the one they are in and the culture they were born into.

It really goes to show how even in these relatively peaceful, modern times, the old mindset of strong = domination, or "might makes right" still persists. This is why Vinland Saga is so relevant even today, even in the modern day most people think the Vikings are what strength looks like. Most viewers only respect Thorfinn because he was an ex killer. If Olmar says "no one has an enemy" people would laugh at him because he isn't a soldier. We need to change this way of thinking. Instead of blindly agreeing with Thorfinn because he's cool, we need to actually absorb the wisdom of what he's saying. Olmar may not be a warrior, but he is a real man now, more than Thorgill or his dad ever was.

@@grey_f98Oh i'm sure in future arcs, especially in Vinland arc, people's beliefs will further be challenged by Thorfinn's new found ideals. Currently a lot of people support him and his goals only because he is the main character and don't think much of his pacifism but it's interesting to see what they think of him once Thorfinn is put under different scenarios.

They don't mention it in the montage, but in the manga Olmar sells like half the entire land to pay the families of the men who died in the battle.

And fans still call him a coward because he chose not to fight.

other thing the manga mentions is the reason why Thorfinn decided to avoid attribute himself the negociations was he doesn´t want the "master´s" grattitude after he did to Arnheid.

Olmas was not a coward for choosing to surrender because despite all the pressure of their society and his family he stuck to what he knew was the right choice. Ketil on the other hand was the coward of this arc because as soon he is put under pressure, he almost instantly abandons his non-violent beliefs and reverts back to the status quo of the society of might makes right.

I think Thorfin made Canute see a way to escape the tirany of the crown. To build something different, to risk trust, to risk loosing the crown
