Steve Staley is alright, he nails the whole prodigy part of the character, but does give a more colder delivery when in contrast to Romi's more authoritive take. Though I will say that Romi did that one freakout scream when he accidentally stabs the wrong person later in the series better than the direction Steve went.

It wasn't until last year that I found out that Steve's, Hitsugaya was hated but I never got that. Hitsugaya falls under a similar archetype as Neji in terms of being the smart prodigy type. If anything I feel like his voice work as Neji is the reason he was chosen and I believe it worked pretty well. And yeah the voice is very different from JPN, version but that's not particularly bad. Romi Park's sounds too feminine for my taste.

Lil Rell nope. Adults dont grow two foot. Adults are not called children ( hitsugaya s called a child repeatedly) . He is a shinigami child. Sure he is older than ichigo but he is not a shinigami adult. Or he would not need to transform into an adult form

Shinigami age is differeng from humans you guys.. He is around a hundred years old or so (think i read it somewhere but not sure) but he is in fact a child by shinigami age, not humans'. We even have proof of his adult form with the completion of his bankai. (Chapter 670 ) If he was an adult that would be what he would look like, he even stated in that chapter that "he wasn't a fan of his adult self" (bet he's the only one lmao). It is common knowledge that he is a genius, completing shino academy in just one year and is the youngest to ever reach captaincy (bankai) in soul society history I think. I think it was just sarcasm but Toshiro is not two feet tall. He is like, maybe over four feet 😂 133cm , and 28kg. He has the exact weight and height of an average 9-year-old boy which is 133.3cm and 28.6kg (source: disabled world). Bet Kubo googled that. He is growing, but he is still a child.

I personally hate Paku Romi's portrayal of him, but this is what I think the big difference is: In Japanese, Hitsugaya's primary characteristic is that he's very young. He's a young person who happens to be extremely intelligent. As such, he sounds like a kid, and and is clever. In English, Hitsugaya's primary characteristic is that he's a genius. He's smart, and happens to be young. As such, he sounds prepared, and his age is secondary to his ability.

Romi Park. I really don't like the way Steve Staley played Toshiro. A lot of time he put too much emphasis on the character's grumpy, beleaguered moments so he made Toshiro come across as too annoying and unlikable. When Park got frustrated it was funny, when Staley did it he sounded bratty. When Park through her authority around it sounded believable that people would follow her, when Staley did it he sounded like an American Arnold Rimmer. When Park got emotional it was moving, when Staley did he sounded like Anakin Skywalker.

Adam Besley he sounds like a grown man. Hitsugaya s a child. He tries but he is not mature. As a result Americans thought he was a grown man who was short. And hated him. If you are voiced by a woman in the original you should always be

Besides, toshiro is a few thousand years old and is a young shinigami, but hes always wanted to be taken seriously and treated as an adult. I think steve's voice fits him well, its just steve's delivery that i have a problem with

I am new to the series, the anime version that is. I like Steve's better. That's probably because I've only ever watched it in english and that's what I'm used to. I think his voice fits Toshiro's personality, but he does come off as bratty sometimes. Toshiro is also my favorite character in the series, next to Renji. That's one reason I guess I don't care what he sounds like.

i think both are good. romi’s voice suits him as his physical appearance is more of a childlike figure, but i also think steve’s voice suits his facial appearance/expressions. i didn’t know that steve’s voice was disliked and i still don’t know why since i personally think his voice does suit toshiro. i have been watching the dubbed version of bleach so maybe that’s why i find steve’s voice great for toshiro but i still think romi’s voice is a good fit for him, and yes romi’s voice suits his body figure but remember that toshiro is much older than he looks so it’s only natural that his voice is deeper in the dubbed version.

I like both voices but my preference is the English dub voice. For me I usually watch anime in English because it's easier for me to pay attention to what's happening. If i watch it with subtitles then i have try and read it as fast as I can and then I can't pay attention to the story, but that's just my preference.

for a time watching anime with english voices wasn't really a big deal it was normal, until one time i was actually able to watch one specific anime with its actual voice actors and the difference was astounding. And ever since then i have despise English voices for any of the animes that i liked in my opinion they were all horrible..death note is probably the only one I could ever tolerate. I felt like they should have just child voice actors for specific animes like Naruto (not shippuden) the voices just NEVER fit the characters at all prime example Nara, Shikamaru was Thomas Wayne Gibis. I remember the first time i heard the english version I just couldn't stop cringing until i turned the show off
