Super Kamehameha is basically what Goku uses from here on out except for his bending Kamehameha and the orbs he creates when fighting Freeza. It is basically just a bigger version of the normal wave

No, the first beam clash happened during the first tournament, during the Goku vs. Jackie Chun fight, when Jackie challenged Goku to match Kamehameha Waves with him, the man who invented them.

Technically every Kamehameha blast you have seen in DBZ where they delay the charge and the beam is bigger than its user is a Super Kamehameha.

@@truevenom97 "super kamehameha" is only named like that in the games and in this sole situation. Nowhere else does "chō kamehameha" appear in the series again. And this starts as a larger sphere. All kamehamehas can take a while to charge and not have the initial sphere of this size. Chō Kamehameha can be translated as "Super Kamehameha" or "Mega Kamehameha". If we are really going down to the meat of it, all beam attacks are the same. Even Vegeta claims the kamehameha is similar to his Galick Gun. But again, people are just equating the game stuff to the series, like "Dragon Throw". Goku never said such a phrase in the entire series, yet people are so headstrong in calling a simple throwing of a person with that cringe name.

0:44-1:44 Wow, the dub completely changed the tone and Picolo's whole deal in this scene😅. In the original Picoco was telling Goku to stop pretending and get up. Rather then gloating over his victory, he was well aware the Goku was playing around, and hinted as much to everyone. This is why the announcer looked so surprised when he told him to not bother with counting, and why everyone stare. This wasn't a case of Goku tricking his opponent. It was a demonstration of just how durable and strong Goku was, and how well Piccolo was able to read his opponent, showing that these two are now in a league above everyone else, along with Piccolo's keen perception, as well as (as AniMelon said very well), how different he is to his father, showing his sense of honor and comparative spirit what would eventually help turn Picolo into the big green uncle we all know today

I was going to write a comment about it but you explained it perfectly. This dub changes a lot of the original dialogue changing the meaning of the scenes. Disappointing and disrespectful to Toriyama. People should watch it in japanese with good english captions.

@@davida7153 To be honest Im not too oppised to makeing curtain small changess to the dilogue.Some things dont always translate well. But there is a difference between adapting the scene and compleatly changing its meaning and make it less interesting

It's not that nobody is telling him the dragon would disappear if Kami dies. But rather Toriyama didn't come up with that yet. Just like goku isn't an alien yet.

Toriyama said he planned the Saiyans in this very arc. And he likely planned for Kami and Shenron being linked because it is later mentioned.

This fight is one of the best in the entire franchise. What I really love about this fight is how even it is. Usually in Anime, the hero fight his/her way up, but in this fight the upper hand changes all the time.

0:42-1:44 Why did they change the dialog so much!? I grew up with the german dub which is mainly based from the japanese original. Piccolo told the announcer to stop counting and shut up, then turns back to Goku and ask him how long he wants to stay down there and he won't fool anyone. After that goku stands up and replies: you got me. Was it that obvious? The english dub changes the complete meaning of the scene wtf!?

What I love about this fight is the confirmation of Goku's strength. If you pay attention, the face Goku had against Tien in their fight was completely different. Goku was "having fun" back then. Here is not playing at all. His face is 100% serious fight.

After watching Z and coming back to watch the original, it was during this fight, that I finally saw the elements that make up fights in Z. It's all here. Before this fight, there was way more choreography (even if repetitive) in db. It felt different to how fights went in the Saiyan saga. Watching this fight, you can tell it's the climactic finale. And so Z almost felt like the finale was extended 270 episodes, with respect to how combat changes in the show after this.

I literally just watched this episode for the first time and when Krillin said it was okay to kill Kami, I went "NO- Oh, it's okay. Goku knows that- NO!". And I've seen DBZA. I know Piccolo makes it for a few more years, dies and then comes back again. Still though, edge of my seat. God damn, this series is good.
