This was hilarious. InuYasha was my childhood! Currently in the midst of rewatching all episodes and movies. I was InuYasha for Halloween in grade 5, and I still have all my toys of him, pillows, bedspreads etc.

On one side, I feel as if this was a low budget play, but on the other, they put so much dedication into it. I saw it in the action scenes. There were also some things I had problems with as well and the costume choices were one of them, the other was the Shikon No Toma, it should have been at least a violet/pink shade and not look like a freaking foam ball the size of a tennis ball...This last part, I just barely noticed and am editing into this comment--Kagome--if that IS Kagome, why does she have short hair...? 0.o

For all the new ones coming in search for the stage play of 2017, you must know that this is a really old performance, it's real but it's from 2002. It's from a DVD that was only released at japan. That's why there are so many differences and outfit. This stage is an adaptation from the manga, and only from the first volumes.

After reading some comments, it needs to be understood that this isn't marketed towards the same audience. I think it's a good adaption. They're on a stage, not in an actual film, so the idea of live action badassery that you probably imagined, won't be plausible. Japanese theater is really actually good. Open up a little, guys.

You can click settings, go to subtitles and you have to choose Japanese. Then you can choose translate and a bunch of languages, including English pop up. However, the translator does not properly translate into English...

違う！ってコメントがまあまあ見受けられますが、この舞台上演してたのは2001年なので、一般にイメージ定着するアニメ放送とほぼ同時期ですし、あの劇団☆新感線の舞台だからそもそもかなり劇団のテイスト加わってるんですよね。 この頃はまだ漫画原作の舞台自体が今より珍しかったし、いかに原作のテイスト活かして劇団の色を出せるかという所を重視しているように感じます。

A traditonal miko's outfit is red and white...the colors of the japanese flag. Inuyasha's outfit I could deal with, he wasn't historically accurate color wise (the design of it was accurate though.) But Kikyo was a simply villiage Miko and wouldn't be that dolled up. Kagome was not wearing a normal school uniform (if any)....not trying to be picky but in the storyline she was going to school....and they'd kick her out of school for a day with that outfit. I'm sorry but....they could have kept the tradition in it. That's all I'm saying.

they did that with UTENA also. but i think that the anime was out at the time of the play cause the music for that was the same from the show. i'm a big Inuyasha fan and for me it ranks up there with yu yu hakusho.

@flamek05 It did. And perhaps they MIGHT make sequels. it was rather popular. Something like that could be done with Inuyasha. Heck I can actually see them doing that. Higurashi When They Cry made a live-action style and it wasn't bad. The clothes were somewhat off a bit but they kept it entirely dedicated. You will never get the exact accurate clothing without spending outrageously amounts of money. That is why cosplaying is expensive and not many people do it. Some do but not all its the price

@Sango48 didn't wear a jacket like thingy, 5)Kikyo didn't wear her hair up like that. it was in a very lose ponytail. 6) Inuyasha didn't say Teme(Basterd i think it meant) when Kikyo shot him. 7)The Shikan no Tama(Sacred Jewel) wan't that big i mean it was as big as her hand. 8)Kagome wears a school girl outfit that has a green skirt and a red tie. 9)I don't remember Miroku coming into the story that early in the story.... but other then those nine things it's pretty darn good. Guys, chill. Why does it matter if it looks exactly like the manga/anime or not? "Omg his pants are blue they ruined everything it's the end of the world!" Whoa there. It's not a comic con play, it's an adaptation. They're making it look more historically accurate with the costumes and such. They're allowed to have a little free rein with this, because they're not obligated to make this panel for panel, scene for scene, exactly like the manga/anime down to the very last detail. I get it, you're "die hard" Inuyasha fans, I've got those hardcore Inufeels too, but let it go. It's Japan, they can do what they want. That's where it came from anyway, so slow your roll.
